Along with the edge and grind angle not being in line with the handle and a bowed blade the guard was loose. I called mtech and told them about it and they said they would send a return label for an exchange. Well, I haven't received or heard anything back plus even if I did and returned it I doubt the replacement would be any better since the canted bevel, bent blade seems to be the norm. So figuring I'm stuck with it I took it out back for some chopping. It did great going going through 1" - 2" cedar limbs, anything bigger and I felt stupid standing there hacking, life's too short for that. But the guard became more loose as in clacking when I hit something. Since I'm stuck with this is there a way to tighten the guard without removing the Kraton handle which btw I like. Other than squeezing some J-B weld under it all around I can't think of anything. If I tack a weld on it the Kraton would melt and if I removed and put the Kraton back on I doubt it would stay on permanently. If I did take them off I'd replace with Micarta. All expensive work on a cheap, bent piece of steel.

Well you really shouldn't have believed the reviews on youtube as a rule anyway. In general the reviews there are pretty poor with few exceptions, their good for getting a look at the knife though and that's about it in my opinion.

Oh and don't buy anything MTech they are junk as you have already learned. If I owned one it would be promptly thrown in the trash, and that's not an elitist knife enthusiast mindset. I just consider the things downright unsafe to use as they feel like their going to break and they haven't given me a reason to think otherwise.

If your into modern folders look at Spyderco and Kershaw they make some quality one handed folders that won't break the bank. I have owned a kershaw chill, which I still regret loosing as it was a special run which had thumb studs. A kershaw tremor, blackhorse II, and cryo and they are all good knives for the money. Spyderco I haven't owned one yet but I hear great things about them too and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
