I've lurked in the shadows of you oinkers long enough!!!

I'm next in line on KAAK's passaround, and figure I better feed my newest addiction before I have to send KAAK's along to the next future addict.

So what do I do??? I think I should start small? or am I wrong?
I know the second I hold that INFI goodness, I am going to be hooked.

I have a plan. Over the next day or to I am going to listen to all of you. I am going to keep a beer in my hand, and ask questions. I figure that by Wed, I sould have enough information (or at least enough beer in me) to bite the bullet and become a Hog in training.

So What was your first???? And Why?

Please help me.!!!!!
Thanks! Greg

my first was a meaner street limeted edition. i had been eyeing the busses for a while, and these were available at the company store. i initially only bough the smaller ones, but eventually pulled the trigger on some choppers.

now i have all sizes.

i say get one small, one medium, and one large. to start. :)

My first was a SHBA, back when it was new and it was just the Badger Attack. No turning back after holding one of those.

I'd start with the current BA direct from the shop. We should be getting pretty close to production starting, so you won't have to wait too long. Its a great general purpose knife and the original price is killer. You can pick your poison on coating and handles too.

Another option in the short run is try one of the new ScrapYard knives, if they still have any on their site available to order. A great gateway drug to the pure stuff and you can get it right now. After that, watch the Company Store and see when Skunk gets some new stuff. Should be more Wardens (small) and FBMs (large) to choose from.

Must consider drinking cheeper beer, This infidiction might (read:is going to) get expensive!

Lots....

I bought my first INFI in Febuary... it was a late CGFBM... I read Cliff Stamp's review on the old SHBM (straight handled battle mistress) and I had to own some INFI asap... luckily for me, 16" of INFI were shipping from OHIO .... I love to beat my FBM... its so much fun... a custom is next!!!

Also, get familiar with the abbreviations of the various models... check out www.badmojo.tv as well, loads of pics of all models, and then some!!!

Welcome to Busse, its an addiction more addictive AND more expensive than crack... but I don't care ONE single bit ;)

Mine started with the Leaner Meaner in satin and black paper....downhill from there....

Better start saving for that new liver...

I would probably start at the Company Store with a BATAC in some configuration. It's a mid sized knife with the best price you'll ever see on it (ie, secondary market is almost always higher, even for users) and will give you some direction of whether you like it or not, and whether your next knife should be something bigger or smaller. Good luck!

I'm a user... I have no intrest in collecting new "tools"

Is it best to buy new....and then use it, or look at Pre-loved INFI?

As I am Cracking another beer.

My first was an SH-E. Still my most used blade so far.

On the issue of new over used, i would say that it doesn't much matter. You'll still pay near the retail for a used one, unless someone loses their mind and sell a user for half the retail or something nuts like that. You find few users for sale though, once we get some love on them, there isn't much incentive to part with them.

Thanks Progunner, now my next question:

(as I crack one of my last good beers before switching to whatever is cheapest)

I happen to like the Warden. Mainly because I can see myself carrying AND using it.

I like the looks (shape and design) of the Satin Jack.

I don't think or know if I am ready to take the leap into a big chopper... there must be some kind of learning curve here, right?

My first 3 (started with both hooves in the trough) were the Nuclear Ice Pick, LE Desert SH-e, and the Mini Eu-17. Great knives. I'd suggest getting whichever one you feel most compelled to start with! Find out which one you really want (start by asking what you want it for) and make a wanted post. I'm sure someone here can help you unless it's one of the more rare knives.

Started with a Straight Handled Badger Attack. I would (did) get(order) a Badger TAC. For $227, how can you go wrong?

Does the "knives wanted" area work?

Yes, depending on what you are looking for. I've had very good luck on some posts, no responses on others (but those were hard to find knives).

I've also answered quite a few WTB posts when I had a spare of what someone was looking for.

In my experience, sometimes it does, but I usually do better watching the forums like a hawk. Also, if you see something you want, don't hesitate. :D

I'd go big. More FBM's should hit the BCS pretty soon, and there's talk of Heavy Mistresses in the air.

Stock in a twelve-pack and wait for them to hit the site.

I am afraid that if I do the "go big or go home" thing, it will end up in the safe.

I really want to use (and maybe abuse) my new INFI toy!!

And for the SR recommendations, I think I want a real Busse to "Slice (read:pop) my cherry.
