OK, I'm officially hooked

Im not sure of the value but I do agree that is a great looking knife. If you love the knife then you didint over pay in my opnion. nice find. joel

I don't know whether you overpaid or not. But you're hooked now and there's no turning back. :)

And this forum is a great place to learn more, especially from Codger, Irv, and the other "Old Timers." :)

Too bad you weren't around last year when SMKW was auctioning off the Schrade Factory Collection piece by piece. Well, maybe it's good you weren't around last year; you're of probably out-bid me. :D

I'm not sure what got into me but it's a knife I don't have yet and that coupled with the NRA made me disengage my brain and start engaging Paypal. Sweet Mary, Mother of God, I've got a problem....but I don't wanna quit :D

NRA knife fetish?

Are you a fisherman too??

This Uncle Henry has both Schrade and NRA paperwork, even a little cork to protect the tip of the blade and a serial number #412.

Sure am....you know, the more I get into this, the more I begin to realize I should have gotten into this earlier....it's gonna cost me a fortune to get caught up. But I do love a good knife. I'm in the process of trying to decide which is gonna be my next every day knife.

That is a sweet fillet knife. Do you suppose there will ever come a day where someone will have a definitive list of everything that Schrade did? I would never have thought of Schrade and the NRA on a fillet knife. You sure do seem to have a pretty nice collection there THawk. Thanks for sharing.

Started late myself. I found that 167 on a website selling all kinds of knives, and I was surprised to see it for $30.00. I tried to buy more, but they only had one.

I think the 164UH can be a good all around hunting fishing knife for some folks. Its a good bit shorter than the 167UH. It's sort of a Bird and Trout knife. The good thing about it is that its long enough to fillet most fish or to core a deer; but, its short enough and got just enough belly to skin a deer or other big animal in a pinch.

Schrade made quite a few good fillet knives over the years. That's kind of what first got me interested in Schrade knives. Here is a few in a crappy picture.

That would be the MA6 (Mighty Angler) it came in a neat little tackle box with nylon sheath, I think the 6 denotes a six inch blade, but to be honest with you I have never measured it. There is also the MA5 that is a little bit shorter, so I'm thinking that would be a five inch blade.

Now to get back on topic, the silverladdie does come up with some nice knives for sale. According to the list in LG4, the N.R.A. LB7 lockback was issued in 1992 so the production date may be in question, but either way, you are right D+B you are hooked, and there is no turning back.

The 164UH is a really cool knife, and I keep a watchful eye out for one of those, and the 168UH Walleye, the shorter filet knife. They are usually pretty darned high priced. I picked up a 162UH awhile back, and it is real nice. But it would be a stout fish that would require it's services.

Oh well, I've been through one divorce already.....I suppose I could survive another :o . Actually, number 2 is pretty cool about it but she did tell me if I'm gonna collect knives, I gotta stop some of the other collecting. I'm thinking of just narrowing down my collecting to folding knives but I have some really nice fixed blades that I'd hate to part with. So many knives, so little money.

My wife will occasionally tell me we need to slow down on the knives for a little while; but, she's pretty cool about it. She's real interested in making sure that we acquire enough good user knives that our boys and their children will always have some good ones to use. She will often help me figure out what to bid on a knife. She's very intuitive. She won't know anything objectively about a particular knife; but, five days out she'll know within a dollar or less what that knife will bring with about 95% accuracy. It's uncanny.

You're lucky Barry. Mine usually comes in when I'm looking at an auction and tries to figure how to put a block on my computer! Although she may gripe about it for a little bit, she usually will let me be. She just knows that when I go into something, there is no easing into it for me. I usually go full bore....which reminds me that I need to list a bunch of baseball cards on Ebay soon.
