OK, I've narrowed it down to a Manix 2 (G-10) or Manix 2 XL . Your thoughts please...

This is for my first Spyderco. And please don't suggest a special edition such as the " Translucent Blue " or the "Dark Blue " models for now (maybe later). I believe that the XL is currently cheaper. I was all set on the "regular" Manix 2 (G-10) , but I am wondering if the XL would better fit my large and thin hands and more knife for the money. Or is this knife too big and conspicuous for everyday carry? There might be legal ramifications in VA/DC/MD as well. Thanks in advance...

Is $10ish really a deal breaker to get the S110V version? I have an XL and it's a pretty big knife actually.

I chose the Manix 2 G-10. I dislike FRN, I like steel liners, and the blade length of the XL does exactly nothing for me that the 2 won't do. The ergonomics of the 2 are truly the most impressive I've found. It's great to hold, and is very comfortable and controllable in use.

My opinion (and I own 5 different Manix 2s):

The XL is a very large knife that carries well and is great for heavy duty use. I love it.

But the standard Manix 2 carries even better and is fine for large hands (my hands are reasonably large). I agree with Rev. Spend the extra money and get the new S110V Manix. The FRN is very tough stuff and great for hard use. Easier on the hands than G10. Couple that with the light weight and the outstanding steel and I don't see how you can lose.

BTW, the translucent blue CTS-BD1 can be found for around $70 and it was my previous favorite knife to actually use. But if you are dead set against the FRN/FRCP models then it comes down to a matter of size preference.

JMO. :)

Thank you kindly for this advice. I'm leaning towards the Manix 2 again.
