How many of you guys out there have significant others that don't know how much your knives cost???? Have no clue that the last knife you bought happened to be a chris reeve and cost $400 because if she found out she would probably grab my new knife and cut my sack off. I don't consider it lying to her...lol...just not really telling. Am I going to hell?

hell is getting nagged about your hobby incessantly once she finds out! :p
you're doing the right thing, my man :thumbup:

**edit**
for the record, i don't really get nagged. i just get "meaningful glances" when i've been browsing knife sites too long

My wife knows the price of each and every one....just like I know the price of her jewelry and purses....guess who's spent a buttload more money?

I don't have any really expensive knives, but God forbid, when I die, if she sells all of my outdoor gear (hunting, camping, fishing, etc) for what I told her I paid for it, she's really going to be losing out on some money. :D

My GF is always aware of the cost of the knives I buy her because she asks :D

She has about $500 worth of knives in her drawer right now . . . That is only four knives too.

LOL

I think this happened recently, because one of my buddies went to a yardsale of a recently widowed lady, and he got three AFCK's for 3 bucks a piece!!!

Mine always finds out. Even though I have a separate bank account for my guy stuff like truck parts, knives, gear, or whatever.. she is usually home when it gets delivered. Then she'll open it and go straight for the receipt. And then call me.

It's o.k to lie to her. They arnt people like us.:p Seriously, you probably don't want to know how much your wife pays for shoes or purses.

Make sure she see's the receipt for items like SAK's as they are pretty inexpensive. Then do your best to hide the receipts for the customs. :D

Mine stopped asking HOW MUCH.. she almost always asks to hold it.. If she doesnt like it, she lets me know.. I bought a pink Eddie White a month ago for my daughter.. my wife held it and said" now that feels perfect"..She knows knives better than most.. heck.. she sees one of my Doziers laying around and says.." I wish you still had that Pro Guide" that is the only knife you NEED!!

I think I am pretty lucky..

:eek:I tell my wife what I pay for knives, she's also bought me some nice blades. She has several nice knives that I've bought her also.Been married for 11 fears.:::thumbup::p

Yeah sometimes i don't dispose of the boxes the items arrived in and i get busted. I think your making a good compromise. My wifey spends to much on clothes and handbags to complain.

I don't ask my wife what her clothing, shoes & handbags cost and she has no clue what my knives & guns cost.

We're both much happier keeping things that way.

Oooooooooh! That reminds me.... I have a new gun in the trunk that I couldn't bring into the house last night because my wife was already home when I got there. LOL!

The whole "Don't ask. Don't tell." policy really is the best when it comes to a happy marriage. :D

My wife "kinda" knows. She has picked up knives before and asked and when I say "Oh that, its a custom____that runs around $(insert hundreds of dollars)" she rolls her eyes at the price, looks at it some more. Then mentions how we could have a new cookware set for less than that.

She swears we'd have a new fridge if I just sold a few of my knives.

My wife has two horses. OK, ponies. The cost per month does not get near my monthly knife spendings. At this very moment she is internet shopping for saddle cabinets. Everytime she mentiones dimensions, materials and price I chant "Sebenza, sebenza!" She knows the european prices for sebenzas. I do not buy the sebenza (yet) but it also means she does not complain if the occasional Buck, Spyderco (or even some of my new chinese friends) arrives in the mail.

My wife has 2 horses also. (Warmbloods) She had 3, just had to put down her 28 y/o TB.

Guys if you NEED to have leeway to justify ANYTHING you do, get a chick that's into horses. Serious. They can NEVER win any financial debate. Or any time commitment debate, or, or, or ... (LOL)

What she spends a month on horses, most people spent on a good mortgage
or food for a whole family. Never mind tack. She just bought a new dressage saddle ... Almost $3000.

But I guess I'm lucky. She's pretty cool. She works hard, makes good money and actually likes it when I get stuff too. We both approach life the same way: Life is short, it's ment to be enjoyed.

No one ever said on their death bed, "gee I wish I had worked more"

my lady knows exactly how much I spend. She comes with me too, and is supportive of buying them, as long as they are used and not drawer queens.

My wife does not know. She has no interest in knives therefore has no interest in hearing about them..
