Now its back...I have my Buck Tempest ATS34. New.. not a mark on it.

Now I have a problem tho..I dont want to use it :) I mean I could just trash the Swiss army knife that I have for my everyday EDC duties.

Also due to the current Law in the UK the Swiss Army knife would be very easy to explain. Whereas the Tempest would not be easy should I get checked by the Police. The Swiss Army knife would be ok to carry - the blade length under 3" and is foldable. The Tempest would not be... even tho its foldable...its over the 3" and has that ASAP technology where I think the Police would consider it to be a switchblade or flicknife or something "illeagal"

The Tempest tho would be far far better at defending myself against the would be assailants that are out there.

Or should I get a nice under 3" single blade like the Tempest but can be carried in the UK legally and will do a good job in self defense duties as well as being a good all round EDC.

You Americans may think I am overreacting but.... look at the links below.

There is a huge clamp down in the UK. And anyone can be jailed for 5 years for carrying a knife.

I could carry these....

But I dont think I would get away with that do you? These are 2 of my SOGs.

Offence: It is an offence to import any knife as described in s.1(1) and sometimes known as a ‘flick knife’ or ‘flick gun’ and ‘gravity knife’

Powers: Arrestable offence.

Source: Criminal Justice Act, 1988. Section 139(1).

Offence: It is an offence for any person, without lawful authority or good reason, to have with him in a public place, any article which has a blade or is sharply pointed except for a folding pocket-knife which has a cutting edge to its blade not exceeding 3 inches.

Powers: Arrestable offence.

Does my Tempest fall into section B of the above?

Sorry Mav,

If I was a constable and saw your Tempest I would arrest you under article B. It is spring activated, locks in place upon opening and the spring mechanism is housed in the handle section of the knife. If you carry it in public for protection don't take it out of your pocket unless you need to!!

In the states we have a saying "It is better to be tried by 12 than to be carried by 6". Oh, the SOGs are nice, very nice!

Maverick,
If I were in your situation I would have to assess the situation. If you really feel you need the protection, its better to be alive and in the slammer than legal and dead. If you keep it in your pocket and are not the type of person that normally arouses the suspicion of the police, then your risks are relatively low. In the end it is your call, but as previously mentioned, it is most likely against the law as stated in your original post.

Well

I am gonna carry my Tempest....and also look for a nice sub 3" non locking blade in the meantime.

Thanks all...

howdy mav,
i would not carry the tempest...
get another that is not questionable.
i went back = in because i see this guy say someitng to myu wife and she froze...= and shouted to a man verbuling acusting my wife simply "hey that my wife" and i was hit by him. he disposed of a knife to his girfriend but cops could not surch her as she female and "no one else saw it " and i got charged because i said you an't going no ware tell the cops get here and when he aproched me i said i would hurt him if he came closer... all this as i was held by 4 people on my arms , and that was consitered assulte and it cost me $2000 for a lawer and expenses... he got nothing for hitt ing me as "he did not know it was my wife" and he was defending his self ... had i had a knife like the 560 i would have been charged with conceled weapon also ... some justace in Tenn.

a real nice comunest state in were i have been stoped on 2 other ocasions and car surched as profiled on drug interdiction- had un taxed ciggerets as ret navy and bought at px soo no state tax ... but name took and later came up as ref in assult charges as possble drug suspect and driving a car with a tail light that was dimmer then the other due to dust...
belive me it is not worth the trouble to actract the attention of law enforcement officers doin it for fun and profit... who have nothing else to do

jest dont carry it ... dont temp law officers that have enothing else to do!

I would suggest leaving that Fascist hellhole at your earliest convenience.

I know you probably get stuff like this a lot, and you probably just roll your eyes.

that being siad, You relay should give it some thought. you would be much more happy in a country with a little freedom, where criminals have something to fear.

Wow, thats all I can say is wow, im glad I dont live in the UK. "PEOPLE WITH KNIVES NEED REHABILITATION AND HELP..." I don't know about the reat of you knife nuts, but I dont think that simply because I carry a knife, that I need help. What ever happned to civil liberities and rights, oh wait the sheeple are too scared to fight because they might get thrown in jail :barf: . If i were you, being like Thoreau here, and carry to carry out my civil disobedience to overly oppersive laws that a stepping stones to tolantarism. Sorry for the rant, but these things really make me mad  . Oh, not once in the article did they mention that hey, maybe the reason i carry a knife is because I need to cut something (ie paper, boxes, etc.).

Personally, I carry a knife as a tool. If I really need something to carry for self defense, I'll knock the dust off my H&K 45. The ban against carrying a hand gun is the real reason you should seriously think about moving. Here in the northwest of the USA, we don't get a lot of burglaries since you never know who will greet you at the point of entry and blow your head off. It really makes model citizens out of folks.

Yeah... I understand that.

I had two Beretta Mod 92FS a matching pair. I had a gun licence...I kept within the law. I had the steel boxes with 3 locks on each. 2 for the guns and then one for the ammo... I was within the law and had regular police spot checks.

Then

Dunblane.... twatt shot a load of kids in a school and the Governments knee jerk reaction was to revoke all gun licences.

I hate Knee Jerk Governments....

Edit

That was the reason the gun licences was revoked. I lost the Berettas.... oh and a point. The gun the IDIOT used was a Un Licenced Firearm. So people that are honest and had everything done by the book was punished because of a man who did not.

Years later.. the fact that no one was allowed to have a licenced firearm in their own property did not stop yet another IDIOT walking around a town in the UK called Hungerford - with a AK47

Is that why they use dogs to hunt foxes?

Sirus question here...NO guns at all??? What if you hunt?
Wow...I'm certain there are other countries along the same line with guns, but have never heard such about knives.
Good thing we had a tea party.

No LOL Fox hunting is a very very old "sport" quite where the sport is in destroying a fox with a pack of dogs I dont know.

Farmers are allowed to have shotguns for vermin control... but thats about it.
