What I said when I pulled the knife from it's sheath. This is one of my California Coyotes. I'd made this knife a while back and the customer had sent it back for an additional sheath. Instead of just carrying it cross draw he wanted the option of carrying it right hand draw, small of the back. So he was asking me to build him an additional sheath for this method of carry. Here's what I saw when I pulled er from the sheath:

I'd heard the name but had not seen any of her work before. I think this is really cool. Whadya think?

Trivia question, (no googling), scrimshaw is one of only two art forms native to North America. What's the other?

I like it a lot Dave !!! Just wish that I had the skill to do it .

Thanks. Nope whittling has been practiced all over, think spoons, clocks, church items etc.

Dave, I assume my new knife on order will be adorned like this when it arrives??? ;)

As far as art forms, there is definitely Jazz, but also Rock & Roll, Blues, Country music...
As far as your hints go, you have me stumped. Can't be stealing land from indigenous peoples, even if we did raise it to the level of an art form... :(
Not sure scrimshaw is native to North America. It was done by the sailors on whaling ships, which was a big east coast industry, but I don't believe whaling was strictly an American enterprise. Pretty sure other European countries did whaling and their sailors probably did scrimshaw. But I am just surmising right now and not speaking of known facts. I welcome being set straight on the info.

Is dog breeding an art? These are all the US made breeds I know of. I don't know about Canada though.

Nope not there yet. I should rephrase the question too though for all: visual art was what I was thinking of. I learned this in 1976/77 when I was 5th year student at Waid Academy, Anstruther, Fife, Soctland., (think exchange student for junior year of high school only no exchange). I sat my "Highers" that year to receive a SCE (Scottish Certificate of Education). These are awarded per subject not a HS diploma per se. So I sat English, Modern Studies, History and Art. Half of Art was Art History as was the written exam. This stuck in some crevice of my head all these years....................................... Navajo Sand Painting is the other art form attributed to just North America.
