Here is a bit of very nice mastodon that I picked up at the Canadian Guild show but I can't quite make up my mind what style of knife to use it on. I was thinking of making up something in Damasteel with a Damasteel Guard, Persian in style maybe. Another idea is to use it on a Damasteel integral for inserts.

That Persian-style idea sounds good to me, George. For some reason that style has been catching my eye lately.

I saw some damasteel that had been heat blued once and was thinking of it for the guard to pick up some of the darker colour in the lower set of scales on a persian style blade.

Mastadon earrings sound so heavy!

A persian would be nice. What about a plain, "blued" steel bolster? IMHO so many knives out there are way too busy, your eye gets so distracted you don't notice the finer points.
Just the artist in me talkin' out loud
