I know ya'll have seen tons of these photos, but bear with me, I'm new to Spydies...

Anyway, took a trip to the SFO this afternoon to look around a bit. I wanted to hold the Manix 2 before I bought it online. So I asked to look at it, and instantly loved it. It was quite a few bucks more than the one I found online, but the gentleman behind the counter said that if I spent $100, I could get a free knife...which happened to be the Spyderco Persistence. So to make sure I spent enough, I picked up a small nylon pouch with the bug logo and the Manix 2 plain edge, and they threw in the Persistence in free! Technically, since it was more than the one online, I spent a few bucks for the Persistence, but it's still not a bad deal if you ask me... So without further ado...my first Spydies...

The reason I chose the Manix 2...made in Colorado! I am a local boy after all.

Congrats on your first spydies. Just beware, they tend to multiply quite fast after the first ones.

Good deal on the Persistence too, despite the stigma of being made in China and having a cheaper steel, I found it is still a great knife, takes a great edge, and I tend to use it a little harder, knowing it's cheaply replaced. Also makes a great loaner knife.

congrats and enjoy. The Manix 2 feels great in my hand. Got 2 of them so far. Carrying one this weekend. I bought my first Spydie last May. Now I'm up to nearly 20! I got bitten by the bug badly!

Congrats!! Thanks for sharing, and welcome to the club!! Great way to start your collection (and, yes, it will become a collection!). . . .

Congrats on the new knives, MikeyJ.

I'm sure you'll enjoy carrying and using your new Spydies. But be forewarned - this is just the beginning. The more you use your knives and browse through Bladeforums, the more you'll have the urge to invest in new designs. Don't worry though, knife collecting is a fun hobby even if a bit hard on the wallet. ;)

wow what a way to start out!

Congrats on two siiiick blades!
The ergos on the Manix feel great and the FFG on the Persistence is outstanding!
