I got a Case Yellow CV Sodbuster Junior a while back, and honestly it sat in my knife drawer for a while. I used it a couple times, but never really warmed up to it compared to my usual Opinel carry. Well, I kept at it. Carrying every once in a while, just to mix things up. And then, BAM! All of a sudden, I got it. Case's CV steel takes on the nicest patina, and look especially good paired with yellow delrin. Here's the pics as of yesterday. It's seen a fair amount of slicing apples, and a couple of steak dinners where it pulled silverware duty.

For me, the Case Sodbuster is an all-time classic American pattern, a really iconic knife, and a great user

The Case sodbuster is one of the most under estimated knives out there! It's capable of very hard dirty work, and rides very nice in the pocket. I like Opinels, but they are no match for a sodbuster. Ya got a great knife there!:thumb up:

Edit to add, this was the knife that I picked for my cross country motorcycle trip, when I wanted to have only one single knife on me. A true "do everything I'd need to do with a pocket knife". It worked great, from cutting up some beef for kabobs over a campfire, to peeling some damp kindling to start a fire, to whittling tent pegs for a windy night in Wyoming.

Hmm, that does have a certain appeal to it, doesn't it? Maybe I need to give one a try again. I just need to find one in CV.

Sodbuster goes so well in the hand, lightweight and rugged . It has similarities with the Opinel, both being simple 'workers' and satisfying for that reason. I think the American versions CASE, Queen et al. have their origins in the wooden handled work-knives from Germany and NL but they have become so familiar to everybody in N.America, South America too as Böker Argentina offers a tough carbon one as well. For those who hanker after a slimmer bone handled variant, CASE has just started to offer this fine version in Chestnut Bone AND cv. Not too bad eh? Mine arrived with excellent F&F, sharp moreover! Thanks, Will

My yella Soddie is my go-to "beat the $%&# out it" dirty-work knife. I use it like I stole it and it handles it all with ease.

Pics from last week...

Nice looking knife arizonaranchman. I really like the character that Case's CV takes on day after day, and yours looks great. I'll probably still throw an Opinel in the pocket from time to time as they are a great lightweight knife, but I have a feeling that the Sod Jr. will be the go to knife for a while. There's just something really satisfying about a simple well built knife. The Jr fits that bill very well.

Willgoy, I really like the looks of the Chestnut Brown Sodbusters. I have a Chestnut Brown Mini Trapper and it's easily my nicest looking knife. I'm already thinking about maybe putting either the Chestnut Brown Soddie or the Orange delrin one I saw on the net on the ole christmas list.

Dale G, the Chestnut Bone Sod comes with cv blade, the Amber Bone and Orange Delrin ones are stainless.
Chestnut Bone is rich, attractive stuff well worth getting a Sodbuster in this.

Thanks, Will

I really like the Sod Jr Chestnut Bone CV as well. Slimmer profile than the Delrin model, which can be good and bad depending upon your preferences.

Nice looking knife brisket! I did not the bone was available in CV, I will have to pick one up. I much prefer carbon blades but the deltrin handle is too thick IMO.

Glad to hear you bonded with your sodbuster.
