I was at Home Depot today and just staring at the countless choices, but had no idea what to buy.

Best thing Home Despot has is the Superglue brand 2 ton 30 minute epoxy.

Regular superglue works if the cracks are small.

medium or low viscosity superglue for hairline cracks, araldite (it's a UK brand) slow cure clear epoxy for larger ones, mixed with some sawdust from the handle for color. dark epoxy steel for dark horn, it's color is noticeable, but horn has occasional color variations and grey stripes naturally anyway...

Go to walmart and get Devcon 2 ton. (1.97) Its good. But if the crack is small I'd use superglue. Drip superglue into crack, sand, more super glue, sand, etc, until the crack is full. 5 minute process. Then sand the handle to match and work up the grits until you're happy with the finish. Personally, I start with ~180 then 220 then switch to scotchbrite pads and I'm done.

I use the Devcon 2-ton also. Apply small amount and poke it into the crack with a toothpick. Let it set, sand down the ridges along the edges of the crack and repeat until crack is filled. Then sand to contour.

If you live near water, you live near a Marine Boating Supply store.

If you don't know, a boat is a hole in the water, into which you pour money. They are always falling apart.

So Marine Supply stores have all these neat two part epoxies for wood and fiberglas repair. You can find blister packs of glues for under $20.00, and you can find brown and black dyes.

The epoxies you can buy at these places is really strong stuff. Much better than the cheap stuff at Wally Mart. However, some Wally Marts carry the good stuff in a boating section. The good stuff costs $$$.

I would look for something that is clear, flows into cracks, and gets tacky within 20 minutes.

Spoon it out per instructions, mix it up in dixie cups, color it as you wish, and pour it in the crack.
