All I carry is "Gerber" Multi-tools, never bought a Leatherman, and here is why..
Some time ago, my boss lost my "Gerber "Multi-plier", he replaced it with a Schrade.
After I wore out the Nylon belt sheath for that Schrade, I started carrying it in my pocket, one day I reached in there for it, and the knife had opened up in my pocket and cut my finger really deep, that freaked me out.
The Gerber's have the blades on the inside, unlike I think most of the Leathermen, I think they open up on the outside, so that is my logic, if it is flawed, please let me know, because people seem to LOVE their Leatherman.
Not to mention, when I use the "Pliers" it seems to me that the smooth handles, as opposed to a handle of assorted blade and tool spines seems more comfortable, now keep in mind I have never even handled a Leatherman, just kinda kicked them off my radar.
 
`how tight were the tools on the schrade? I find the the tools on my leatherman wave are moderately tight and the only reason i can open them easily is with the thumb holes. In my opinion I would say there is almost no chance of a leatherman wave/juice ect.. opening in your pocket unless somehow the tools loosened up dramatically.

just my 2 cents.
 
If anyone had the blade on a Leatherman open up in their pocket I would be truly surprised they are pretty stiff.
 
I guess I could see it happening. If you're reaching around for it, and happen to rub against the blade enough to dislodge the retention of their basic liner-lock system. For me, they're all to heavy for pocket use,anyhow.
 
Have you looked at the Swisstool line? Locking tools on the inside. Comfortable handles. Various models to choose from.

The Swisstool and Swisstool Spirit all have outside opening tools. No way they would open in your pocket though.

Yes, thank you Capt., I mistyped. Yes, on the outside, and as you said, I don't think they'd ever come open on their own.
