Ok, I give up. I've got a new killer camera (first pix are in the Gallery-Trailing Point) but, taking a picture of something so big is well beyond me. Boy, have I tried. Also, being a full time maker, there's no way I can afford pro pix on this thing. So, here are the pix but, there's no way to appreciate my first attemt at a sword with these pix. I hope this is passable.

Celtic-Crossover Long Sword
This sword has a 28" blade of 5160 spring steel with 26" edges (heat treated by Jerry Rados). This sword was made as a matching piece for our Celtic Dagger (shown in the Dagger section of our web site). The handle is Sambar stag with ebony ends and brass/nickle-silver spacers. The ends are brass and file worked nickle-silver discs and the pommel is brass with an onyx cabochon. The blade sheath has a Celtic carving pattern and the customer's family crest. Tess outdid herself on this! This piece is 38" overall, tip to cab.
Let me know what you think.

I have a matching blade that's in the works but, on hold. Who knows?

Wow that is seriously cool! I really like all the fittings that are on it and yep that sheath looks pretty darn nice!

damn J i've been dying to see that thing finished!!! man that is one beautiful piece and the sheath is outstanding.
alright everyone he's taking orders!! get em now while supplies last

nice stuff you two!

Great looking sword J. Not a bad photo either. Now about your comment :

" being a fulltime maker, there's no way I can afford pro pix on this thing "

IMHO being a fulltime maker you can not afford NOT to have your best work profesionally photographed. Pro pics get published and if you use Coop, he will post the pics on three different forums. I spend a lot on pro pics and it comes back 10 fold in orders and sales at shows, money well spent in my book. BTW, I have an $800 camara and my photo skills suck. I'm too busy making knives to learn to be a photographer too.

J, It all looks good to me. Don's comments make alot of sense to me. Guess it depends on how busy you want to be.

I really like the look of this sword.Did you forge it and finish it on the grinder? Also what size wheel did you use.Great first sword!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words.

Don, don't get me wrong. I completely agree. I do have pro photos done when I'm extremely pleased with a particular piece. I've been using Chuck Ward latley and I'm very pleased with his work. Coop has also done some fantastic photos for me in the past. It's just that there is a limited amount of folks that have the set up for a 38" piece and they were'nt folks I'd dealt with before, among other issues.

McAhron-The blade is forged and finished with my KMG rotary platen (slight convex) up to 800 grit.

Thanks again,
J.

J,

Way to go! Both the sword and the scabbard are really nice. Tess, fantastic work! :D

J. and Tess, this is a beautiful combination of your multiple talents. Thanks for letting us be a part of it.

 Wow, that's quite the blade, J. I see what you mean about the 3 levels we chatted about. It would be a real hoot to see all 3 next to each other. Very cool sword.

Thanks guys.

Northgull, yours this makes part III (38" sword, 18" dagger & 7" mini) Your Mini is attaced below. That would be pretty cool ti line them up, huh?

Hey J. that sword rocks, bubba! Be sure to post it on Sword Forums International if you aren't already doing so. You'll have more orders than you can handle.

Tess, great job on the scabbard!

J. you cotton picker, your going to force me to come up with a bigger HT furnace. That piece is fantastic and Tess has done it again  .

Hey, J.,

The mini-Celtic Dagger arrived in today's mail! It is a magnificient piece of work. I love it! My three grown sons will each be "lusting" after it, for sure! Another successful acquisition for my collection from you fine folks! Thanks!

J., my friend---As usual your work deserves all the praise that it receives, and I add mine to the others! But, Tess, I am enchanted with the fine work you display on that scabbard! I once offered help but it looks as though I should be asking! I sincerely hope that it is my pleasure to meet the two of you again---perhaps at the Blade Show-----------Sandy

Dang J, I take a couple months off and look what happens! Fantastic work, both of you. There's nothing wrong with that pic, it's just fine. But as you know I'm a convert to professional photos too. I wonder if Point Seven is set up for the big stuff? Anyway, thanks for sharing.
