We recently added a laptop to our household. Our mail client is Microsoft Entourage set up on what I will call our main desk top. So, I set it up on the new laptop also. But now incoming mail seems to be going randomly to one computer or the other.

First question is how is it deciding which computer to go to, and second question is can I make them go to both?

Oh, the desk top is an imac and the desk top is a MacBook.

Thanks

If the mailserver you are connecting to only allows POP then you'll need to setup one computer to download the POP emails ***but leave them on the server***. As long as the other computer only checks email after the first one, then both should get the same messages. Admittedly, this is messy and a pain to both use and administer.

Your best bet (hope that this is the case) is that your mailserver supports IMAP usage. Basically that means that your email is always on the server and then your email clients setup in IMAP mode will mirror what is on the email server.

The easiest way to setup your network this way would be to setup gmail.com accounts for yourself, setup gmail for IMAP access and then correctly configure your email clients on both machines (there are instructions at gmail.com for doing just this...)

HTH.

Thanks for the info, there is a lot of this client/POP/IMAP stuff I will have to figure out.
