really is a monster.

Mine arrived last night and I took it out at lunch for a little use.

First off the thing is heavy, the biggest knife I have had before this is the kabar USMC when I was a teen. The BK2 is like a reshaped hatchet the thing is so thick and heavy.

I found a log about 3 inches around and chopped it in half. I think I might leave the hatchet behind next camping trip. I then whacked at a couple of good sized limbs and took them off. It shaved the hair off my legs out of the box. I really do like it and think it will be my hard labor knife when out.

I expect I will still use a smaller blade for the finer tasks like filleting fish or dressing game, but this is one hell of a knife.

The grips seem like the might get a slittle slippy with to much sweat, and I have to say I'm not a great fan of the black coating (Think I might have to strip it). The only thing I don't really like is the sheath, locks in tight but the belt loop is just flimsy. Glad I won D's contest for the leather sheath.

Sorry forgot the camera today so I will have to sacrifice and go out later this week and get some photos.

Oh yeah, beast of a knife, but its pretty handy too. There's a reason why its my fav. Heavy? perhaps, I don't think so, perhaps a few more pushups. :D I keed, I keed. Most of the folks that handled it at Blade, went through this process,

Man, that's heavy. (first pick up)
You know, it feels good in the hand. (after a few secs of holding it)
This is really comfortable, not as heavy as I first thought. (after handling it longer)
I'll take one. (about 2 mins after first picking it up)

She's a great knife, congrats on the pickup, and the new knife.

Congrats on the BK2. It's a beastly little blade, but give the sheath a chance. Do a mod or two to it. It really is nice.

In my opinion when you hold a sheath with a knife in it by the "belt loop" and it hangs sideways.....something needs to be rethought. I like the hard plastic part of the sheath but the nylon webbing portion should be upgraded. But to be honest I didn't buy the knife for the sheath. And as soon as my hope and change kicks in Im going to be looking for a leather horizontal carry sheath for my BK2 anyhow.

Funny, after reading so many comments about how heavy the knife was, when I got mine I was surprised it really didn't feel heavy at all, it just felt stout and balanced with a nice sized comfortable handle, at least to me.

Exactly! I got mine yesterday and that was my only problem. Captain Airyca did a review of Oregon's BK2 in another thread. If you haven't read it go check it out, I'll wait. Ok, did you see the horizontal belt clip attachment on there? Nevermind the shoes she was wearing, the clip seems the route I'm going when I ask him where he acquired it. Congrats on the BK2!

I too thought the knife was nice and light. But then again I am used to my bowie which weighs over two pounds.
Congrats on the 2.

Yes I saw the clip and it looks like it would hang handle heavy. When I do get a horizontal sheath made I will make sure that it hangs balanced. Find the balancing point of the knife in the sheath and then attach the belt loops an inch or two to the left and right. I HAVE NEVER BUILT A SHEATH BEFORE so leather guys reading this.....does this sound about right???

I hate a custom made sheath stitched up for my grunt that's horizontal carry. I only wish it had snaps so I didn't have to take by belt all the way off to get my knife on/off. It cadets a tad handle heavy, but not enough to be a bother.

I'll take a pic of the backside later and edit it into this post.

The shoes keep the knife on the belt not the clipped sheath.
