So Buck made 2 versions of the 639 with a phenolic handle.

639B1 with phenolic handle and aluminum fittings like a 119, with saw and sand blasted all over (some Buck Custom with S/N and some not with 1993 tang stamp only)

639B2 with phenolic handle and aluminum fittings like a 119 but no saw and sand blasted all over (script tang stamp)(315 made S/N xxx/315))

So where does this one fit in? One of the 315, has script tang stamp but also saw. or buck custom with S/N but no 93 tang stamp.

I think those are from the Custom shop. The one's that I have held had a green rubber handle. Great find. DM

Seems it could only be 639B1. Custom tang, saw, serialized, but not serialized out of 315....Am i missing something?

Steelhead u missed nothing I misread my description. Thought all B1's had a 93 tang stamp. Well at least we got to see a B2.
Thanks for the catch. Anyone know how many B1's with SN and custom stamp were made.

Years ago we had a discussion about these knives here at BF. I don't know if I remember correct: Buck doesn't know how many B1 have been made but a lot more than the B2. They are not serialized, and standard blades have been used. May be there's anybody who can confirm these sentences (Or not?).

Just an update if anyone wants to add it to their Buck info. I found out production for the numbered 639B1 serialized version was aprx 690 according to the BCCI model history sheet.
BCCI worth every penny :)
