Hey all

I was wondering... I know a lot of you have *way* more nice Bucks than I will ever ever ever have... but if you had to pick one and only one single Buck

a) what one?
b) why that particular one?
c) a pic is required? well if at all possible.

Does not have to be a EDC or anything like that... but a knife which has special meaning or something.

I would pick the one and only original pocket knife. The Buck 110. I would pick it because I think it is a really good heavy duty user. Most people forget about the good old 110 with all of these new fancy schmancy knives. I can open my Buck 110 one handed without a thumbstud. I can also close it one handed. It is much classier than anything new, and all at a price that you cannot beat.

I do not have a good picture of a 110 so I will have to wait and see if someone else will post one.

I like the 110 so much that after I just sent the only 110 I own into the factory, I just bought 2 more Buck 110's and also a Buck 112.

the latest one i bought:
the one with the logo cut out with al bucks sig and 100 year medal..
o good as a user but lots of meaning...

I tried.....I just can't pick one! Seriously. I have a favorite oldie that is special, and would make a great user. Except I would never actually use it.

Its a model 112 Skinner from the 1940's. I love the design and the history of it. I would love to test the steel to see how well those old files do. I got as far as bringing one like it on a hunting trip. It stayed in the truck though and was never used.

For everyday carry, I would have to go with the Mayo TNT. It is my everyday carry 90% of the time. My all around favorite knife is the 112, it has the good looks of the 110, but is smaller and thus more appropriate for more uses. Who can get by with just one knife though? So, I'd sneek a 110 in just for giggles and my favorite would be the BCCI fundraiser from a coupe of years back, the honey worm bone with S30V steel and nickle silver bolsters. (pics will have to wait until I get home)

Mav...ya didn't ask what the occassion was.
But, if stuck on a desert isle with Mary Ann, it would be one of the two BS units (or both). I chose them as I think they are the cockroaches of Bucks...survive a nuke blast.

Funny, I was thinking today what watch I would take if I only had one...thinking my Omega or Breitling.

IF the knife is a "which is your fav to look at"...then it's the 110 Stainless Damascus Sambar. Because it's a beaut.

No occasion.. just meaning that if you *HAD    * to lose all your knives bar one which one would it be and why?

I would keep a black n gold 110 by M. Prater...or maybe the red and black one, but then maybe it should be the blue one or one of the pearl ones...damn

Well when I go hunting there are two knives that I always take with me, my Buck Master Series Vanguard which came standard with a BG42 blade and my "Buckbenza" - the no longer produced 560 lockback with Titanium handle and a BG42 blade upgrade. The Vanguard can handle any medium to large game while the 560 can handle anything from squirrels to moose. The BG42 blades hold their edges even when I hack through bone. The Vanguard handle and blade designs have fantastic ergonomics while the classic 110-like lines of the 560 design is fantastically versatile.

Excuse me, I do believe that I've started to gush. It is amazing with my collection of hundreds of knives that my two primary go-to hunting knives would both be Bucks.

Yeah, my 100AG is a contender for the same reason Mav.

Disclaimer: knives depicted as "Fav of The Day" are subject to change.

There might be a better one out there, like the 501 Master Series I keep trying to find for a price I can afford, but my favorite so far is a BG42 532 I picked up on the forums here. The slim handle makes it very easy to carry, and it still has a nice usable length blade (3"). The only thing I don't quite like is the squared off choil on the base of the blade. If you removed this entirely, it would be a more compact knife. Or if you keep it, make it rounded out and usable.

Oh, and give it a thumbstud for opening. Mine has one, thanks to STR.
