I've grown enamored with the bk5 lately. I look at pictures and think "that would make for a good fighting, bush, tactical, whatever knife" and all I see are posts about the bk5 in the kitchen. I'd there is one thing I learned from my beloved Wegner designed pro hunter or is that what works.... transcends. The qualities that make that folder a good hunting knife make it good at lots of things. So.... tell me about the bk5.

Designed by Jerry Fisk and Ethan Becker. You ask it to do something and I'll bet it will have it done. It chops well (not AS WELL as the 9 but still well) it slices, it dices, it juliennes.

Clich did a write-up on exactly this.

We put the 5 through a Fisk designed knife rodeo at the 2nd Beckerhead Gathering(videos on AIG's channel), I was very skeptical of this blade beforehand. After the competition I have zero doubts of this knife's abilities. We chopped 2x4s, cut free hanging rope and a myriad of other tasks . My wife kept ours and uses it as her big knife when we're out in the sticks. She likes it because it's light in hand yet still very capable. Obviously it's not the chopper of heavier blades like the BK9 or Machax, but it will still make a good showing.

My wife and I love ours:

It will do WHATEVER I make it do. No questions asked.

At is said: "You can't not have a 9" however, when it comes to the 5?

"You will have a 5"

I keep putting one in the Tomar's cart, but still haven't pulled the trigger.. I used to think it was too big, but after using the 15 for just about everything I am thinking a 5 would be just right.

It's for cutting stuff that needs cutting. They're fun to modify, too :)

Should not have waited as long to get one as I did. Absolutely fantastic knife. To me, its an 8" blade that does not "feel" like an 8" blade, and I mean that in a good way. In all my usage of the knife I have not had any hand fatigue. Not while chopping, carving, or cutting. Basically, since it hopped out of the box its been my go to knife. Possibly liking it just as much if not more than the 15. I really think the blade design was well thought out, also in conjunction with Mr. Becker's handles, and it just creates a really solid performing knife. I have handled a lot of knives and the BK5 stands far out because it is simply useful. Not only does it work,it works well.

Those are some dang nice BK5's y'all gots there :D Makes me wanna get one of my own for my next Becker (in the last 2 months, got my 1st-3rd,a 2,9,and 11) :D

The BK 5. One of my favorites. But I admit, mine stays in the kitchen. Hers a better pick of the one Murph posted. One of my favorite Becker projects I've done.

I really need to give mine a little more attention...I've really only tried it out in the kitchen:

but it's still a great kitchen knife, even if you never use it elsewhere.

The BK-5 is my favorite knife ever. Not only is it a superb butcher knife, it also does well as a short machete.
