I just picked up a Cold Steel Kudu, and I have an Eland on order. What are some other good ring-lock knives? I haven't found very many in my own searches, and the quality seemed to be highly variable.

If there happens to be a high-end iteration of the knife, I'm very interested in seeing it...!

In my book a ring lock is what an Opinel has. Not sure if there are any 'high-end' types in production but Chris Reeve used to make a really cool one:

The lock on the Cold Steel Kudu seems a lot more like a Bull Lock to me, but with a ring to pull on rather than a lever:

The latter is what I'm referring to - my mistake!

Just saw another thread about this kind of knife with lots of content you'd enjoy!

Seems like ringlock is accurate, just confusing as there are homonymous meanings. I was no more correct though as it seems like the distinguishing feature of this lock style is that the spring is external, which is not the case with a Bull Lock.

He also refers to them as Saddle Spring locks, that's what I'll call them from now on.

AH! Thank you very much!

Also, since making this post, I've managed to hurt myself quite severely with the aforementioned Eland. Still carrying it, though - now I just know better than to try to close it with two hands. Two hands = twice as many digits to potentially get in the way.
