Kay and I have paddled all over the place. From Montana to Georgia and a bunch in between, but our all time favorite spot is right behind the house. It never gets old and is simply magical on beautiful days like today. Snapped a bunch of pics today so here you go.
Armament for the day, BK4, BK14 and BK24. The purpose of the 4 (since we didn't plan on cooking) was carp control. When the river flooded a few years back Asian carp invaded the swamp. I had a 25 pounder hit me square in the back last year. I strapped the 4 to the deck to hopefully play some carp tennis when they jumped...
. Unfortunately (or fortunately), we didn't see a single carp today.
Kay's ever present BK14
My brand new BK24. I have absolutely fallen in love with this knife.
This put-in is a couple of hundred yards behind our house. We come back here all the time to camp, paddle, test knives/gear, work on skills and generally play outside.
Gliding through the cypress trees. Doesn't get any better than this.
Perfect snake flipping technique right here. Ask Guyon, I've got it down to an art.
Here's how you disappear in the swamp. "Field of dreams" style.
Some scenery.
Something left from the flood.
A spider web. You have to look close.
Can't think of a better way to spend a day. Hope you enjoy the pics.
Oh yeah. We watched a bald eagle swoop down and catch a fish, then fly off with it. Just like "Wild Kingdom". I sat there like a derp and didn't take a picture, just watched it.
