Okay guys, these are not Busse Combat knives, but I like them nonetheless

Given that there is not a Scott Cook Knives area on BladeForums, and that I spend 99% of my BladeForums time here, I figured that I'd share these photos. They are of a set of four Scott Cook Owyhee Hunters. They are fixed-blade knives. Scott Cook is probably most famous for his outstanding Lochsa folder.

The Large Owyhee Hunter has a 3.625-inch blade, and is roughly the size of an Active Duty. Here are the three that I now have:

1) BG-42 or S30V blade (probably the former, given the bolster material) + BG-42 bolster + Full Grip Snakewood handles
2) Devin Thomas Black & White Spirograph Damascus blade + Shrunken Ironwood handles
3) S30V blade + Full Grip Black Linen Micarta handles

Scott Cook changed from BG-42 to S30V at the end of 2001. (3) above came with a Birth Certificate that dates it at 12/2001, and explicitly states S30V as the blade material. (1) was made sometime in 2001. No Birth Certificate. I found one for sale that had a 10/2001 Birth Certificate that stated BG-42 as the blade material.

Below is a comparison photo of the Black Linen Micarta one with a Scott Cook Lochsa folder:

The Large Owyhee Hunter is basically a fixed version of the Lochsa. And, as with the Lochsa, the fit, finish, and overall quality of the Owyhee Hunters is top notch.

Finally, here is a Small Owyhee Hunter that has a three-inch blade and Full Grip Ironwood handles:

It feels very small. For me, it's too small. The Large is just right.

Anyway, I hope that you guys (and gals) don't mind me sharing these photos.

I'll take it. :D
oops, wrong forum again.

Great pics, thanks for sharing.

Those are sweet!!!! But that folder of his is just awesome. A very simple and robust design :thumbup: One of the best and most simple designed folders that I have ever seen.

I particularly like that bolstered Large Owyhee Hunter.

However, your photos would make my 40 year old $2.99 Barlow look good.

SCK is not taking any orders!!!

"Functional elegance" is a good way to describe these knives. The blade thickness is 0.125 inches. They come with a very nice Randall Pouch style belt sheath, made by Gfeller Casemakers.

These are elegant simplicity; beautiful lines and obviously functional. Very nice, Lund! Thank you!

A girl needs a knife...

I have been looking for a Large Owyhee Hunter like that black one for a long time. Some day I track one down:thumbup:

Did you follow that link? There's one there and I am resisting it mightily.

Unless he has more than one, it is sold. I bought it on Friday, and it shipped to me the same day. ;)

Yes, apparently "The Trough" exists beyond the realm of Busse Combat.

I just checked with the seller, and he told me that he had two. I snagged one on Friday, and the other is still available.:thumbup:

The Large Owyhee Hunter that I bought last Friday arrived yesterday. It has Full Grip Black Linen Micarta handles. Interestingly, some things have changed. You can see photos of the new style at the website of the place from which I ordered it. Here are their photos:

The first thing that you notice is that the six smaller handle pins, located at the front and rear of the handles, are gone, and there are now three larger pins. Also, the thumb ridges along the spine are gone, as is the lanyard hole. The handles are also contoured differently, particularly toward the rear. The blade thickness also changed. My earlier example, made in 12/2001, is 0.1530 inches, measured just forward of the handles. This new one, which has a birth certificated dated 10/2007 (made last month), has a blade that is 0.1295 inches thick.

The fit and finish is the same, though this new style gives me more a feeling of simplicity.

I will take some photos in the next few days.

Stop it Lunde! Just stop it! I'll need two more new jobs now that I've seen Scott's stuff. This work is sick. I need to get one of those little ones, but if I had my druthers that Damascus would be in my collection. Crazy stuff. Thanks for sharing (I think;)).
