Okay, how many... because of the Forum?

Well, the "Okay, how many?" thread got me thinking... there are a fair number of Spyderco's that I've bought as the direct fault of this Forum, either because I bought them through the BF Store or the local For Sale forums, or because coverage of them here convinced me that I needed them. How about y'all? Is this Forum having a similar bad effect on your wallet?

Knives for which I blame

this Forum:

Mini-Police and plain Starmate : Saw both of these on KCI's news page when they first came out, and wasn't convinced. But intense coverage here convinced me to make the drive over to Wright Knife

BF blue Natives, one plain and one serrated : Well, no brainer, bought from the BF Store after hearing them lauded here.

gray Matriarch : Ordered from SFO after reading the coverage here.

plain CF Dragonfly : Bought from a posting in the For Sale forum, after being foolish enough to have missed the original sell-off in the BF Store.

plain CF Cricket : Ordered from SFO after getting a suggestion in Knives Wanted that they still had them in stock (got the last two).

Mini-Mariner : Found a thread here, digging through old postings, that indicated these showed up from time to time on eBay, and proceeded to kick myself repeatedly for not catching it the first time 'round -- laid in wait for the next one, which I scored recently.

G10 Harpy : Ordered this morning after reading the "Harpy or Moran [sic]" thread for the Nth time.

Anyone else care to confess?

You are not alone, Carl ! Although I've had Spydercos since the early 80's, this forum has resulted in my adding;
Moran (2)
Military
Harpy
Blackhawk
Blue Native
Calypso
Calypso Jr
Cricket
Mini-Dyad
Mini Police necklace
And these are the ones I've kept, there are a whole passle of various models that came and went in various trades and sales. I'm struggling with myself about the grey Matriarch presently, yup, I'd say this forum has had some influence on me.

Hmm, how many things from Spyderco have I got from this forum? Less than the total amount of stuff I got because of BF itself.

A long time ago, I just wanted a Police but it was out of my price range. I got thumb stud folders and that worked for 2-3 yrs.

For something new, I debated between a Benchmade Eclipse and the Spyderco Endura. I got the Endura and carry it every day. Later I would get a plain edge but traded it.

Because of the FAA concerns posed here, I chose the Delica over a similar size BM Eclipse.

A year ago I decided to get a fixed blade and this month as a gift I got the Spyderco Moran. I may have to get another one.

I got the 203 Sharpmaker because of the forums too and am pretty satisfied.

What I got because of BF in general
4 Photon Microlights
9 knives
2 Flashlights
A few books and videos
1 shirt

Too many!!

Military, Starmate, Wegner jr. Viele, the list could go on, needless to say, this forum has caused me to buy lots of new toys

I bought my first knife less than two weeks ago, thinking it'd be more than enough for my purposes. Since then, as a result of you guys, I've bought:

Sharpmaker 204
Tuff Cloth
Navigator (w/ cool blue almite scales... thanks to James Mattis!)
Harpy (couldn't resist low price mentioned in "Harpy or Moran" thread)

... but that's it. I hope.

Resistance is futile.

clay.

I bought a Moran as a result of talk on the forums before the advent of the Spyderco forum. Since then I've added a BF Native (plain edge), a Sharpmaker 204 and, my most recent addition, a G10 Harpy. Next will be the Lum Chinese folder, that is unless something else gets my attention in the meantime

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow....in Australia it's tomorrow already.

I started on my own with the Viele, the dragonfly and (my favorite) the Native as well as the old sharpmaker.

Because of this forum, I have gotten the ladybug, two BF Natives, calypso jr., (old) Moran, delica, Matriarch and soon a used military with 440v.

I am looking forward to a calypso jr. lightweight, a new Moran and anxiously awaiting a RL Military and MBCF, and a Big Native.

If it weren't for the forums, I wouldn't have given the new Military a second look. I had an old first model that had a lot of blade play and a loose lock. After hearing from several forumites (I know that probably offends some of you) that there was a new model out that had corrected several shortcomings of the original, I decided to try again. I am glad I did. It also helped me have a comparison piece so I could adjust my old one better.

Military,Native,Merlin,Jess Horn so far, plus sharpmaker 204.(Emphasis on SO FAR!)

I feel like a piker, reading all the above posts, but my knife budget is quite limited. I can account for three:
Military
Blue Native
StarMate.
All of the above are in plain edged form.

Bladeforums introduced me to Sal. His open and helpful contributions to the general forum brought me over to look at the Spyderco forum. Here I've learned what great stuff he's putting in the Spyderco products. I've come over to the dark side, I now have a knife with a clip and a hole. I'm looking to get more. I never thought I'd see the day. I still don't plan on buying anything expensive with serrations though.

Today a Starmate, tomorrow a Calypso Jr. Lightweight, what next?

Two CF Dragonflies and Blue Native, from the BF Store; two Militaries, due to raves in the "Military Man" threads of a few months ago; Moran fixed blade, thanks to Bald1; and Goddard Lightweight because Sal announced that Spyderco was doing a run of them with plain edge--thanks, Sal.
