Help me decide...

I have no suggestions, but i DO have a list of requirements

It MUST be

1.Legal to carry on my person in the state of texas
---That means blade under 5" with 1 edge only
2. Supersteel of extremely high quality. No s30v here... M4, M390, or something of similar quality
3. if folder, FAST to open. I don't care if it's Axis, Auto, or flipper but it must open one handed and lightning fast.
4. Under $300
5. Plain edge... NO SERRATIONS
6. Must have a blade of no less than 3.75 inches if a folder

Okay, you have your requirements. Let's see what the blade wizards can dig up. I need inspiration.

Oh, and I already have a Contego, so nix that one.

Note: Didn't nix any due to blade steel. Mixture of S30V, ELMAX, D2, Sleipner, S35VN, S110V, etc.

Spyderco Tuff is 3.7" of 3V tough steel but not the fastest to open.

A great fast flipper with M390 is the Zero Tolerance 0777-M390 but it's beyond your budget even at the lowest prices.

Not under $300 but the new 7505-132 fits the bill.

My second one down, the ZT-0561, should fill the bill nicely - and save you nearly a Benjamin these days. A ZT-0560, if you like a black scale. ElMax steel is great - super smooth action - nice flipper - great handfit. The bottom ZT-0301, already suggested, has an S30V blade.

For cutting bailing twine & most livestock work, from castration to butchery, after braining beast with hammer or axe. Could be long enough for wild pig sticking, if your catch dogs are hard enough. L6 tool steel, differentially heat treated. Could improve looks by polishing blade to mirror shine, & sanding & oiling handle.

What he said. Plus the Para millitary 2 in M390 if you can find one.

There are some very cool suggestions here. The Svord was unexpected. I'm definitely looking into that

I already have 3 JYDs... Two compounds and a plain one

If your list is filled, I would suggest you start looking at some of the economy priced blades to compare to your normal stuff.

An appropriately sheathed RMD meets your requirements. Also, TX state law states the legal max blade size is 5.5 inches, measured from the tip to the front of the handle. SR-101 has performed much better for my uses than any supersteel I have yet used. Good luck!
