I visited a friends garage sale today, and found this buried in a pile of crap gas station folders.

I figured for 10 bucks, I'm basically buying the raw materials the knife is made from, and I can have a little fun abusing it. Turns out it handles abuse fairly well. After chopping a 2-by-4 in half and cutting large chunks out of a 5-inch log, the edge looked fine and was still pretty sharp. The only flaws I could see were a pair of hairs-width chips, presumably from a knot in the lumber that I decided to hack away at. They were literally too small to be seen without holding it up close in good light.

I decided to go look up this mysterious M-tech USA company. Reviews were poor, which didn't mesh with the knife I'm holding. After looking around amazon and knife center, I can't find a knife that matches what I bought.

So, what exactly did I buy?

I have an M-Tech, and so does my cousin.
Look around, and you will see that the M-tech knife you have closely resembles another big brand original design.
Mine looks like a Boker Subcom, and my cousins M-Tech looks like a Schrade X-Timer
My M-Techs say "M-Tech USA" on one side, and "china" on the other side.
I would consider them the lower-middle-class of knives.
I, too, researched them when I received one. Most people got all mad because they stole designs.
If you like it, then mission accomplished. We are but mere opinions. :D

They're a step above gas station knives, but are the sort of thing one finds at army/navy surplus stores. Not very high quality and not very good ethics, but they're knives, they cut, and they're still better than what the average person on the street carries. :o

Heheh... I had that thought when I pulled it out of the box. Not exactly a copy, but definitely a similar blade. Not hard to see where they got the idea from :p
