Just curious and I woke up early this morning so I'm trying to dominate the forums right now.

Is the question hypothetical or did it actually happen?
I've had one for some ten years now, and I honestly don't worry about the clip ever breaking (in fact, my wife has been carrying it for the last few years). I'm sure it's not impossible, but I doubt it happens frequently.

When I broke the clip on my Delica, I just filed it off and carried in my back pocket. A guy at work liked it so much I sold it to him. I should have kept it.

This happened to a friend of mine also. He broke the clip off his old model rescue (I can't remember how, but he used that thing _all_ the time). Being so close to SFO he took it in and they just screwed a new clip right into the handle (and sharpened it for free), very cool! This was my first Spyderco experience (with the knives and customer service) and I have been addicted ever since. Way to go Spyderco!

If one works in an on the move and rough and tumble environment it can indeed happen. I' ve broken off a few many years ago and thought them useless and gave them away to friends and frugal cops.

I had not realized or thought enough that Spyderco would smooth out the remaining clip and install a metal clip via 3 screws before the newer versions came out. These FRN models had a beefier non tapering style integral clip before 98 where afterwards a few of the current models now sport the reversible metal clip style. I' ve never had experience with the pre 98 beefier clips where any of them had broken off.

MY friend carries my old Endura on the job(arson investigator)he was squeezing between a house and a fence and ripped off the clip.Spyderco filed it of and put on a metal clip plus cleaned and sharpened it for $10.He is very happy with the work.

Thanks, guys it was purely hypothetical but several of my shipmates had the old ones without clips (I noticed as I sharpened there knives) and just assumed it was pretty easy. It's nice to know that customer service in some companies still exists enough to take care of a problem like that.
Thanks,
Mykl

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones then...

I broke the clip off my Delica(replaced myself with metal clip) and my Endura(made a kydex carry sheath for my back pocket), so it does happen.

The Endura I have had since 1992, and the Delica since 1993. It took awhile to finally get it right and snap it off.
