okc ranger ontario Afgan?

Ontario Randall and ESEE have never been the same. Randall is totally different. ESEE had Ontario making the RAT products for awhile but they had some sort of parting of the ways and now Rowen Mfg makes the ESEE knives (except for the Light Machete which is made by Imacasa). So Ontario and ESEE formerly had a relationship. I came into the ESEE world long after this had all shaken out so I am somewhat of a "snob" in terms of ESEE vs the Ontario RAT products today but quite frankly I have nothing to actually back that up. I believe that in general the ESEE products are more highly regarded than the Ontario RAT products.

By the same token, I believe that the Ontario Ranger products are well regarded on this forum.

Randall Knives are made by Bo Randall or his descendants. ESEE is a fellow named Jeff Randall who I believe is not closely related if at all...and is not affiliated.

This topic is covered all over the place here and you'll have to do a lot of searching but off the top of my head, I believe this to be true. YMMV.

I don't see any link. But anyway, I am a HUGE fan of Otario Knife Co. The Afgan is a great blade. 1/4" thick & HD. I was gonna get that one, but got a Becker BK2 instead. I do own an Ontario RD6 Ranger Signature Series, that is 3/8" thick of pure awesomeness. I love it. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't get a thick blade sharp either. The BK2 is 1/4" thick also, you can see the comparisons. I like the Ranger RD series because the full tang sticks out past the handle for batoning or pounding or breaking glass if need be. Made in America, fairly priced & awesome product.

Never, ever would I have thought a production knife would make the BK2 "look skinny". But it does!!! Yikes!

On the other hand, think about what an indispensable tool that knife could be as a duty knife.
