Just wondering who all is going to the OKCA show this year? I looked at the table list in my "Knewsletter" and recognize a lot of names but sometimes online tags don't match up with maker's actual names... :D Anyway, just wondering who all is planning on going!

I really look forward to this show and am really hoping to be able to make it (my wife is due in 2 days so we'll see...) and, on a side note, especially hoping to pick up some Parks or some better quenching medium than what I'm using. Anybody know who might have some at the show?

ME!!!:D

I am planning on picking up materials for making knives. My cash is burning a hole in my pocket....

It feels like the day before Christmas....:)

Funny you should say that.
I've been gathering up some wood handle materials for people just like you.

I'll be there in my normal spot along the back wall.

Can I ask "what's your best price" and say "I could just get some wood from Home Depot"?? :D

Looking forward to seeing your selection Mark. I'll be there only on Saturday.

I will have my wife with me, so I will be on my best behavior.

For those of you who do not know.
OKCA stands for Oregon Knife Collectors Association.
They have a big knife show each year.
This year's show is April 8-10
It is a big show with a few hundred tables if I remember correctly.
Lots of really good custom knife makers.
Materials suppliers
And some really cool knife collections.
In my opinion it is one of the most fun knife shows.

That was the first knife show I ever went to. I went with my dad when I was 14 or 15. Long time ago.

I'll have a table at the show, H08. As far as your question about someone having quenching oil at the show I'm pretty sure you won't find any there. As far as your wife being due in a few days unless she has it before the show I would plan to be at home just in case. Hope things go well!

Hey, it's a natural thing. Leave her at home...she's got a phone and neighbors. Don't sissy her. She'll rspect you for it. Go buy some handle material for yourself. Don't be a wuss. I'm an expert on wimen...I'm a bachelor!

I'll be at the show to view handle material for my 1911 grips. Neat show 425 tables.

It was the location of the funniest thing I had ever heard at a gun or knife show. There was this man and wife. She picked up a long piece of polished oosic and was running her hand up and down it and asked the table holder what it was. He is a very religious guy and doesn't like to offend and was obviously slow to answer. She was getting mad (but was still stroking the thing) and her husband (Mr Clueless) demanded he tell them what it was. Well, he did, she dropped the thing like it bit her, the nearby table holders roared with laughter, and the aforementioned couple sputtered out of the show likely never to return. I bet she told all her girlfriends the next day.

Hope to see you all at the show.

Question. This is my first time at a Knife Show, any Knife show, since I was 16 over 20 years ago... I will be coming for the whole day Saturday. Is parking close, so that if I buy handle material, etc, that I can come and go easily, or will I be packing stuff around all day?? Need to bring a pack? Lunch?

Parking is within 100 yards depending on how lucky you are. There are venders with hot dogs and stuff like that. There is also a gun show next door. Careful, Eugene is full of liberals. Bring a knife, just in case. Targets of opportunity, you know.

Parking is very close but a pack isn't a bad idea. There are locations on-site to buy food or you can drive a short distance to a variety of restaurants (great burger joint just east on 13th called Dickie Jo's).

I figured I wouldn't find any quenching oil there (never seen it there before, but also was never looking for it), I'm just cheap and hate spending so darn much on shipping!

I'll be there in my usual place at table R12. I borrowed about 25 Bump knives to display. Please stop by and introduce yourself. These screen names drive me nuts.

Hey folks , in case I don't make it there I wish everyone a good time and sells .

I would also like to ask you to stop by table P08 and tell Bob & Pat Crowder that Jack ONeill says hello and wishes them well . It is his fault I got into this so many years ago .

Even if you can park right in the front of the parking lot, you're not going to want to go back and forth. Just walking from one end of the show hall to the other is a trek. :)

I'll be there. I have been to the show a number of times as a gawlker, but I got talked into getting a table this year. I see it as a market test, to see if anyone wants to buy the kind of knives I like to make. I'll post a pick of one of my backpacker styles. Hope to see you there and get acquainted with some of the makers on this forum.

I really enjoyed the show today! It was very nice to put a face to a name for a lot of you guys! Jim, I tried to stop by and say hey but every time I came by your table you had people in front of it so I figured I'd try not to scare away any potential business for you!

The show really was great... right up to the point where I got the phone call from my wife saying her water broke and was heading to the hospital! I sped back to Portland and our little girl came about 40 minutes after I got there. What a day!

congratulation to you and your wife Aaron . Good wife you have there letting you go and leave her alone .

l missed the show afterall. I visited a scale seller the Tuesday before the show and picked out $800 worth and was broke. Sorry I missed the looks and visits though.
