Anyone going?
Terry Davis always has a couple.
Bill Ruple always has a bunch.
Lots of other makers.

Hope to make it by noonish on Friday... with a bag'o goodies for sale... or maybe trade... :D

I'll be there. You may wish to look at the Balisong Display table that I'm putting together which will feature some very nice pieces from some world-class makers.

I will be there, probably with my two sons. I'll keep a lookout for you guys. My forum name will be on my badge.

I'm gonna jump on a train tonight and have lunch in Eugene.Love trains, especially "The Coast Starlight"(LA to Seattle ).
Bringing a bunch of autos to sell/trade.
Oregon is the place to do autos.
Looking forward to seeing Gollnick's Bali Display,my friend Bill Ruple, and a whole bunch of knives.
I'll be the fat guy with the Hawaiian shirt on.
Hope you can make it.Cool show.
Randy

more barrel shaped than round. :D

I will not be in attendance this year, for the first time in 10 years, and am more than a little bummed out about it.

The show sucked economically for me last year. It costs me about $1,500 in expenses, and I just did not make it back.

I'm going to Blade instead.

Best Regards,

I'm not going either. I've felt the quality stuff was rare and far between - in short, the show is too diluted for me.

I'm gonn'a try to drive down Friday. My sister is coming home for a get-together, so I won't be spending the whole week-end.

Randy should have said "the guy with fists like sledge hammers and a barrel chest."

A "fat guy in a Hawaiian shirt" would not scare me in the slightest. Randy on the other hand... well, he could hand me my lunch and not even break a sweat. Then he'd toss his business card on my caved in chest, just in case I wanted to contact him for another beating. ;)

Hope to see you all there if I can make it! :D

Wheeler, Wheeler?

Randy, Bruce, Joss, Ed?

What's the 411?

Steven-

It was cool... accept for the obvious fact that lots of makers typically there have dropped the show from their schedule.

I just walked around and spoke with friends...bought some handle material and steel. Nothing too exciting.

I wish I could have stayed over till Saturday to watch the opening ceremonies. The hot, young woman that did the ceremonies a few years ago with the scarves hanging from the ceiling... was slated to do the show opener again Saturday morning. I would have liked to see that. Also would have liked to see Raymond Richard forge a hawk head.

Stayed at the show until 7 pm when just about everyone was packing up and leaving.

Had a great dinner at the Roadhouse in Springfield with a whole bunch of folks, the Drapers, Mitch Lum, the Bybees, Chuck Gollnick, Gary and his son, Greg and his son... 16 of us!!! Great food and great people (well, with the exception of myself of course).

Got to look closely at the CAS Iberia tables... cool display on the progression of a sword. VERY cool display.

I know Bill Ruple won best folder and best of show, Bill Burke (aka Bill Buckee ;) ) won best hand-forged. I couldn't hear the other names. Bill Burke had a large tanto on his table forged from cable and water hardened... one of the coolest blades of this type I've ever seen... great shape and AWESOME hamon!!!

I got up at 6 am, made the 3 hr drive in 2 hrs. 40 minutes, we all left the Roadhouse at 11 pm, and I got home at 2:20am. Had to stop and take a 20 minute nap at a rest area since I only had about 3-4 hours sleep the night before.

I'm glad I went! :D

We had a good time. Any time spent at a knife show with friends is a good time. :D

However, the show continues to go downhill. My wife walked the entire show and counted only 101 custom knifemakers out of 450 tables. :(

The show looks like a big flea market. There are too many people selling junk, knock-offs and rusty Kabars. There also was not a cutting contest this year. Lots of big name makers have dropped the show from their schedule. I hope the remaining custom knifemakers do not drop the show.

Thanks Nick. I really enjoyed our visit it is always nice to share time with friends.

Wow Chuck that's not a very good turn out for Custom makers. Really too bad, I've been interested in going to this show some time. I'll definitely have to rethink this.
