Spent the weekend down in Eugene at the OKCA Show. For me it was a good show. Got some supply's but not all I was hoping to get. Met some old friends and made some new ones. Did the forging demo both Saturday and Sunday and had a good sized crowd for both days. The two blades in the picture are the two from the show. I did do a little more forging on them this morning. I also picked up the two red things.

That's great,Ray!! Nice blades and congrats. on the awards!! Where's the pics of the award knives????

Yes dont remind me Ray! I think you must have paid the judges to beat out my dog bone bowie for the bowie award again! Congrats.

I had a great time too and sold a few also.

Ray,
As I stated at the show when I saw you, congrats. My wife came along and your knives impressed the daylights out of her! She really likes the way you had your table set up. She thought it was a very classy looking set up.

Bruce,
She really liked the style of your handles.

I got a lot of advice from her on what direction my knifemaking should take in the future. When looking at handle materials, she really likes some of the more colorful stabilized stuff. She didn't like pink though (I dodged a bullet on that one, since I can't bring myself to make a pink handle knife).

I've booked a table for next years show, so I guess I've "officially" joined the ranks. Next April's OKCA show will be my first show.

Ray
I stayed home trying to get some stuff done who else won awards

Congratulations:thumbup: It feels good to be rewarded for hard work.

Good morning Ray, I was one in the crowd both days and picked up some great pointers from you. Made my trip worthwhile.

If you decide to hang it up one day you could land a gig in any comedy club. I really enjoyed your humor during the demos.

Congratulations on the awards.

Best regards,

Jim

Jim it was a pleasure to meet you and John there. You two make some nice knives. I hope to see you next year if not sooner.

Jim, Glad you enjoyed the demo! I really enjoy doing them and it helps break up the show and makes the time go by faster for me especially on Sunday. I'm doing a knifemaking class in Regina, Sk the first weekend of May. The focus is going to be on hand forging. Its probably a good haul for you but if you would like more information send me a PM.

The two blades at the start of this thread and now finished so its time to start getting one together. Think I'll start with the fatter blade.

Ray,
It was an honor officially meeting you this past weekend. And I agree with the rest; you put on a good show at the forging demo... But since I'd watched you at Blade West last year, I knew what I was in for! LOL!!! :D
And I still think Saturday's blade will turn out special! Especially now that you've got the temperline going...
What kind of handle/guard/bolster/etc you gonna put on that thing??? :D

Joe, Your lucky I didn't do a re run from last year.... :D I've been thinking about the demo for Blade West this year. I was told to spice it up. I may wear a kilt and burn incense.

Either pure gold or silver will be used for the fittings just like all my other knives.
