Gah! I just went through the process of re-registering and getting a yahoo addy so I could post here:( I have two questions (well more like a few q's about two knives):

I saw a MA LCC with a production date of 09/2001, for $219 at a cutlery store in a nearby mall...is that a good price?

2...I just got a buck mayo, and was wondering if the backspacers are made out of titanium..if so I want to get them anodized.:) Not that this thing isn't absolutely gorgeous out of the box, but I think anodized purple backspacers would look awesome on it.

Thanks,
Steve

You can get a D/A LCC for that price. Although they are getting harder to find, since they are out of production, I think. If the manual is one of the originals with Titanium bolsters, and carbon fiber, that price may start looking a little better. I'd also check out the For Sale forums here to see what you can find. The manual LCC can usually be found for under $160, otherwise, if law allows, I'd say get the LCC D/A, and have fun!

Don't know about the Buck/Mayo.

I know the new D/A LCC's are around that price, but they have the aluminum bolsters. This is a 2001 production and as far as I know they were still using titanium then.

As far as the law, I never do anything stupid enough to get searched so I could carry a D/A with no hassles at all.

In the past few months I have bought two LCC D/A with the Ti bolsters for $175. One carbon one od micarta. Would think a M/A should be less.

Steve's innocently walking down the street and gets mugged, he whips out his D/A LCC and quickly dispatches the threat, who dies soon after. During the trial the liberal DA brings up the fact the B.G. was killed with an illegal "switchblade".

If it is illegal where you reside it's better to carry a legal one (which can be presented just as fast with methods like Brownie POP).

I saw a MA LCC w/Ti bolsters and CF handles go for $120 in the exchange forum of a different site and have seen it average for around $140 here. I bought my 2nd gen. (Ti bolstered) LCC/DA for $200 over a year ago and saw the same ones that Bruz is referring to. If it floats your boat, go for it. If you're looking for a good deal try somewhere else.

Gah...good point Bruz. I'm still waiting on that POP email!

Steve, I'll send it to you...Brownie gave me permission to pass it on to a few.
