top -- Sandi, little Terry, Yangdu, and in background Yvsa, Gregg, Bill Jr. You can see Terry's workbench right behind the girls.

2nd -- Terry and Uncle sitting in front of some more critters.

3rd -- Yvsa, Gregg, Kevin, and Bill Jr. Yvsa has an obsidian knife or something of great interest.

4th -- Terry, Uncle Bill, Yangdu, Sandi (just barely!) and little Terry. Uncle and Yangdu are eating great pinto beans, stew, homemade cornbread and other goodies which we really do not need.

5th -- Yvsa, Uncle Bill and Gregg involved in a serious discussion about life, liberty and the pursuit of good khukuris.

When we walked in Terry's house it was like walking into a home full of old friends. Hospitality such as that is very seldom encountered and there is no way to thank anybody for it.

Uncle Bill says:

Nope. You can't thank folks for that kind of hospitality. You might thank whatever dieties or powers you might happen to believe in for the presence of good friends, though.

Yeah, Bill, I wanted to post something right after I saw the pics but you know how family/work life is. I'm actually at work right now but there's a quiet period.

That center picture where were are all looking at Yvsa and he is looking at his hands: I think what was actually happening there was I had noticed Kevin had a Spyderco peeking out of his pocket. It turned out to be a standard Native. That of course led to me showing what I was carrying. I was very lightly armed that day since I also had two HI products with me. I didn't even have my Spyderco Military and that's unusual. I did have my Spyderco Shabaria in the right front pocket and a G-10 Harpy in the left. The one I thought everyone would be interested in was around my neck: Spyderco Blue Native (BF version). It was in one of Mike's sheaths. I suppose Yvsa could have been looking at any one of them during that pic but the one he looked at the longest was the Harpy. He started telling me about how one was in the latest Hannibal book. He also took the chakma to my Sher 18" AK and got the edge all smoothed out. He finished it off by pulling out a Marbles sheath knife and using the back of it. He explained to me that the Marbles was over 60 RC and therefore would be unmarked. He even offered to take me home with him to show me an HI 18th Century. He's a great guy to spend some time with.

We all really did have a good time. I was the last one to leave. I had many things I wanted to ask Terry about and he had all those great knives hanging on the wall. It was a chance to really handle some without buying which is something I haven't been able to do. Now there are several I will have to buy. Sandi and Terry also insisted that I take home the extra Heineken (actually split it with Yvsa), and some cake and fudge. It really was a group of diverse people that all shared an interest which brought us together.

I can't leave this without saying something about Yangdu. She has that mysterious air about her like many Asian women but at the same time she was completely friendly and interested in who you were and what you were doing. A rare mix of traits and a person to be treasured. Take care of her Bill!

It's hot here now but OK does have good points: I bought 25 gallons of unleaded in Big Cabin last night for 1.29 a gallon! Sure looked good after making it to 1.77 here.

Bill,
We were glad to have you here, maybe you can stay longer on your next trip down.
We had a very good time and would be very happy to have everyone down again.
Maybe Sandi can fix some of the Oklahoma catfish you were talking about. That is if I can catch any! The normal size of fish I catch are around 4 to 6 inches. I think it will take quite a few to make a meal!
You're welcome here anytime.
Terry

It was nice to meet some of the other forumites as well as Bill and Yangdu. Terri and Sandi did a great job hosting. Thanks, Bill, for taking the time.

Tulsamal, you're right about Terry's collection. I've decided that if I actually order an HI (instead of waiting for a blem...oh yeah, I did sign up for a Nara piece) that Gelbu Special seems really nice.

I haven't had the time to cover the HI forum much lately, and I've missed alot of "good deals", but it is much easier on the wallet.

Gas has gotten cheaper but now it's just hot here. As in "I think I'll mow the yard sometime...in September" hot.

Kevin, I used to hold out on the grass mowing when it got hot in that part of the world and many times I'd get luck and the grass would turn brown and I wouldn't have to mow it for the rest of the year.

But don't make the mistake of watering the grass!!!
