OK it arrived! Wow!!!

But what's this on the snap button: "The Great Seal of the State of Oklahoma." A sort of mid-western rune? I just know there's a story here. Yvsa?

Is this meant to be worn in the small of the back?

Don't ask me, I haven't a clue!!!!:rolleyes: The snap on mine is as worthless as titties on a Tom Cat, no offense Bill the Cat, as it is just there and doesn't do a thing for holding the knife in.:rolleyes: :grumpy: I read this and got to wondering so I got the Seax and my magnifer out and sure enough mine has an Oklahoma snap on it as well, never noticed it before.:rolleyes: ;) :D

Bro, I know Oklahoma has seagulls and no sea, didn't know Oklahoma had seals.:p ;) :D ;)
 
Saw those OK snaps on some sheaths at the khon. I think a college trained archeologist might conclude that Nepal was originally settled by displaced dust bowl Okies, like California in the '30's. That might explain the recent political unrest. Steinbeck redux.

Yup!!!! And damned fine snaps they are!!!!!:eek: :D I haven't seen snaps of that quality in our local leather stores but if I had I would've damned sure -snapped- a bunch of them up, pun inteneded.:p :D

Edit:
Don't know how the sarkis came up with them but wish I could get same or similar snaps, wouldn't have to be Okie ones, just the same quality.:D
 
I bought a nice leather jacket at Macy's a few years ago, and it had these large "Oklahoma" snaps and several buttons with the same image. All the snaps on my HI stuff has the same image as well. (Although, like Yvsa, a couple of mine have had to be tweaked from the inside out to work properly.)

Evidently the OK thing is just the manufacturer of the snap, and the Sarkis got a bunch of them...

originally, the sheath was designed to be a deeper, pukko-like sheath, but worn horizontally. So there's some sheath mods involved to make it secure.

DIJs seax showed up here for etchin just today, and I swear the sheath on his is even shorter than the ones in the original run, with the leather throat barely covering the bolsters!
Came really sharp outta the box, tho. Kumar does good work.
