Okuden on FSH?

Much as I enjoy looking at my new FSH, it occurs to me I might like to take it somewhere and let it run. While I wait for the pennys to stack up high enough, I've been looking at sheaths. I'm only 5'8", and in playing around with fit it seems unless I want my elbow above my head by the time I clear the sheath  , I need something that sits pretty low

I like the look of the Okuden, and have seen some really favorable comments, but not necessarily on anything as large as the FSH, so has anyone used one of his sheaths on a large coated blade? I'm also wondering what the Kydex does to the coating, since he seems to place a lot of emphasis on fit taking care of retention??

All advice welcome! :D

Oku doesn't use much of a friction fit on the blade. His retention comes more from a "precise" lock up using the forward end of the handle rather than blade friction. I would wager he can build it loose enough not to touch the coating, but lock up very tight. I have studied his work very, very closely and his is some of the best around. You can't go wrong with Oku's work. Heck when if I couldn't make my own sheaths to fit the bill, he would be the one I would go to.

This is my own personal opinion mind you and not to say that other makers aren't doing great work too.

I have one of Brians sheaths on my SHSHII. It was not made for my knife, but fits jsut as if it were.

I have no scuff marks from the kydex. All my scuff marks are from chopped stuff...

As Proporker said, Brians retention is not on the blade itself.

i carry my bm-e in an oku standard teclock sheath in a weak side/cross draw position. i've never tried his drop leg for strong side.
