Ol' Grizz is making a comeback in N. Washington!

Coyotes were officially not in central MD for a long time, but residents would see them trotting through, oblivious to the fact that they shouldn't be there :D. We've had confirmed bear sightings in central MD (no grizzlies thank you), a mountain lion in Baltimore (kids saw it, but scat was confirmed as that from a mountain lion), bobcats heard in Harford County. On top of that, we also have our fair share of cryptozoological sightings. Something, probably a hairless stray dog, was on tv a couple years ago. It was thought to be a hyena hybrid with severe mange, although there were humorous reports of "chupacabras". I have to double check, but I believe I have read about wild hogs in southern MD.

That reminds me of the guy we caught earlier this year ripping a shed off its foundation to get to a bunch of 1" copper wire runs that were about 100' each. He had a chupacabra skeleton in a tool box in his van, and kept telling us not to touch it and to be careful with it. Oh, he also had meth in the tool box and was tweeked off his rocker, needless to say the police had some fun with him.

Anyways back on topic for me... Thats really cool that they are getting back into those areas, its always nice when the wildlife comes back. I remember we used to see wolves every now and then here, before they were "officially" reintroduced.

we're getting very close to getting our grizzly population de-listed (should have happened 5+ years ago, but that's another story), hopefully we won't have anywhere near the fight that it took to get wolves de-listed :(

when we had a grizzly season (very limited, based on a quota and took into account all human caused mortality into account- road kills, train kills, livestock protection AND also had a lower female sub quota that could end the hunt) the human/grizzly encounters were lower (save the NP's where there is no hunting)- I'm looking forward to the day when we can responsibly hunt them again- hopefully very soon
