Greetings all !!!

Did you know our fine friend Rob is a Teacher? Yup..he is teaching a Basic Knife making class at a local College...I am proud to say that I am one of his students.

From time to time I will be adding Pics of the students Knife projects progress.

Stay tuned.

Did you know that when you complete the course, you will have to build one of those little indian dog houses with your completed knife :D :D ;)

I was over at Rob's this afternoon and visited a bit...looked out at his Teepee trying to figure out how to build one...think that sewing part would be a problem for me

I guess this is for our EDGE-ification!
I can't think of anybody else (maybe Fisk?) I would rather learn to make knives from - would love to move there so could take his course(plus better air & less traffic!).

Good one...Higher Edge-ication....why yes we have terrific air..and less people join us for the good life

Well fellas ( and gals )

Class is going very well. I am very impressed with Rob's teaching ability..he seemsto be a natural...

Most of the class is prepping blade shapes. A few of us are practicing decrotive file work...ummm..no..I haven't hadthe balls to file on my project yet...still practicing. I must say, Rob is quite the artist with a file..the class is very impressed..myself included.

You ain't whistlin' Dixie!!! :D Rob can handle a file with the best of them - you should see the work he did on my two Talonite Carnivore folders and the boot knife he made for me - beautiful!!
You definitely have a good teacher there. :D Not too bad with the grinding too! :D :D :D

Hey I cant think of a BETTER teacher!!! Rob has been teaching me **** for years now! He has ALWAYS been there for me when I needed help with ANYTHING!!! Rob has a way about himself that makes him a great teacher... Hell I would take the course!!!;)

Howdy all,

Time for my update...

We have been starting heat treating our projects...mind you we have not been using some fancy schmancy heat treating oven. We have been using a torch and color indicators..pretty cool way of doing it I must say.

Yet another knifemaking class report...

Many of Rob'd students are beginning to add grips to their knife projects. This evening I began the pinning and epoxying of my Desert Ironwood slabs. I am using brass tubing for pins. I decided to use tubing for pins because my project knife will be a gift for my father in law who is an avid hunter. The tubing makes it possible to use the knife as a makeshift spear as well as lashing points.

I will begin the contouring the grips in a day or so.

More to follow,

Jerry

Here is my my project knife from Rob's knife class... pretty good if I say so myself...

I think that I learned quite a bit from good ol' Rob...if you ever have the chance to take a class from Rob...take it

OK guys..what did I do wrong? I can't seem to get the pics to show up.

It is really frustrating.:( :( :grumpy:
