I've been admiring these on the interwebs and am close to pulling the trigger. I've been a fan of the Wayfarer for a long time, but was pretty sure I would find it too large to carry on a regular basis.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the 247, or on the Olamic brand in general?

They come in different sizes. Mine with a 3.5-inch blade is an incredibly well-made knife that handles like a dream. Fit and finish is perfect. It's about the size of a large Sebenza, but the ergos are better and it flips super well.

I also have a 4-inch bladed Wayfarer that is too big for my tastes, even though I EDC a full-sized Rukus. It doesn't handle as well. Fit and finish is excellent.

I'd say go for it. Everything I have seen/handled from Olamic has been top notch. I have big hands, and like to carry big knives (like Medfords etc.) and while the full size wayfarer is more comfortable for me, I would have no problem EDC'ing a 247. I have had my eyes on one as well, but just bought a CRK Inkosi, so it will have to wait!

I've been admiring one for months and finally pulled the trigger yesterday on a base model (satin blade, bead blasted handle) and am really looking forward to it. I haven't heard anything but really effusive praise for them so far, and Eugene from Olamic seems like a really great guy.

Pics PLEASE especially full size Classic Wayfarers!

Also, those of you who ordered full custom how long did it take in waiting queue and production times?

I discovered Classic Wayfarer while surfing on exchange hunting for ZT 06006.
There it was gorgeous with similar size, shape, materials and better quality craftsmanship for same price as LE ZT0606 on secondary market, except for the fact that you can order full custom Wayfarer!

That's when I had my Eureka moment, I'm no longer wasting money on imperfect production folders! Instead I'm going to order full custom Wayfarer build to my specs, already sent email to Eugene with preliminary specs, he emailed back that due to holidays and their move to new bigger production facility, he will need additional time to review all my specs and will get back to me!

Now I'm trying to figure out which type to order 1. Practical Tactical - CF & Titanium 2. Fancy User - Ironwood scales with Mikute Bolsters with rope file work on blue+gold anodized milled/drilled out liners & back spacer 3. Fancy Collector - Ironwood scales enclosed in single piece Titanium Engraved bolsters with file work on blue+gold anodized milled/drilled out liners and back spacer.

Your fancy collector example sounds like it'd work just as well as a user, but a really nice one.

I don't doubt it will work/perform same after all it will have same CTS-XHP steel on all versions just different finishes ex: black/blued, satin, mirror polish grinds and satin flats.

I'm not quiet sure I would actually use Fancy Collector version, in my mind you have to be very rich to use this type of Fancy Collector models, where it would not be financially difficult to replace them if you break them. You know someone who would use Hollander & Hollander shotgun for hunting! I believe those guns are custom made and start @ $100K-$1M easy!

Firstly, Eugene of Olamic provides first class customer service.

I have a custom Wayfarer and it's excellent and unique albeit big with a medium detent.

My 247 was initially CNC made in Italy by Fox but finished in California. The latter versions are in M390 unlike my Elmax so more worth it. Excellent quality. Great ergos. Wide variety of finishes and colors. Stronger detent and ability to open via flipper or blade hole. Blade hole opening is a little tricky.

I used to wonder why Spyderco didn't bevel the inside of their blade holes, but some of the Olamic reviews were saying the beveling combined with the more triangular hole shape makes it harder to open that way.

The blade hole opening on the Olamic 247 has to do with pressure exerted on the detent ball via the frame lock. To avoid such pressure place your fingers on the clip rather than the lock bar while opening the folder. An alternative is to pinch open it.

Your experience with their thumbhole, comfortable or rough on thumb?
In reverse grip opening using only pinkie finger how easy comfortable to open using thumbhole?
Or is it easier to open in reverse grip using flipper and pinkie?

I can open my 247 with the thumb hole only by pinching it between my index finger and thumb and pushing outward with both fingers. The detent is too strong to use the thumb hole more conventionally.

So in reverse grip you can't open it with pinkie alone because detent is too strong?
The only way to open it in reverse grip is by pinkie against flipper?
