Hi, I want to purchase a Olamic Busker knife. I am torn between the 'Semper' and 'Largo' blade style. Can anyone tell me if there is any difference between the two besides blade shape and if there are pros & cons to either. Thank you for your help!

I can't speak to the Semper blade shape, but I really like my Largo version:

I have this same question. I'm leaning towards Largo, but still mulling it over.

I sent an email to Olamic Cutlery and Ilya responded (within mins / lightening fast) with this response I just copied from my email:

Semper vs Largo
Originally Busker was designed with Semper blade. Largo and other shapes were added later.
Largo is a bit heavier then Semper and because of that flips little bit more aggressive.
Because of its shape maybe it is more suitable for outdoor use, when semper is more popular for just regular EDC. But this is pretty subjective . Sales statistics is approximately 60-40 so far in favor of Largo. But maybe this is because of general fashion for cleaver type of blades.
Both blades can be flipped same way.

I also love these - the Largo shape more. Honestly, I'm not spending over $500 for a 2.5" blade. I know they have great quality & materials, but nope.

$500? Busker starts at $365 with standoffs and $395 with floating backspacer. I just bought one and I will have it tomorrow.

The knife can then go up from there with whichever options you want to customize the knife with.

I'd get the Largo. Unlike the other Olamic offerings, I don't find the Busker attractive but the Largo is the best looking of the bunch and it looks perfectly fine for EDC and sharpening ease.

I went Largo. Love it. The fact that it makes the knife slightly taller when closed doesn’t bother me at all on a knife this small.

Awesome! I bought the knife from Jordan @ DLT Trading and he was more then helpful and a pleasure to deal with. BilboBaggins BilboBaggins now I think I made the right choice buying the 'Largo' and also Olamic saying the blade is a tad heavier I think it may flip better, but who knows. I will know by 10:30am tomorrow morning (my birthday 6/15) as the package is guaranteed to be delivered by then. Yes - I bought it as a birthday present for myself, lol, not that we all ever need an excuse to purchase a new knife. I'll post pics tomorrow.

hodo615 hodo615 I don't think it really matters which direction the cage faces, however, if you installed the cage with the "back" facing the blade you may get more gunk caught up in the pivot.

Regarding the blade shape, I went with their new Gusto blade. I met Eugene at Bladeshow and had a great conversation with him about the Busker design. All of the blade shapes (except Vampo) are inspired by terms for music.

Semper: Always
Largo: Large/Broad
Gusto: With good taste
Vampo: I think this one explains itself:D

In fact, the word Busker is used for someone who is a street performer, such as a musician. The Busker bead also shows this, with musical notes around the hat on the skull.

Olamic designed a great knife here, and I love mine. This example has Olamics in-house made Fedokume, it's their 3rd iteration of making it and they are still perfecting their recipe. I think it's beautiful the way it is:cool:

I'v been carrying Buskers one by one for testing in all 3 blades - Largo, Semper, and Gusto...

Gusto generates more "conversations", but Semper I think is more "practical". Largo is just a classic and awesome :-)

All of them take the same space in the pocket and feel the same to me... Just a personal opinion.

My favorite so far - in Largo "totally" rock washed... Again - just a personal opinion.

Great EDC for sure in any combination...

I have a Largo and Semper. I love them both. I’m looking to get one of each with the other two blade styles.

Can we get some comparison pics of the tip thickness of the largo vs the semper?

If we look at the actual cutting edge it is almost exactly the same. Both tips are sort of modified sheepsfoots but the semper has that “clip” out of the spine like a clip point.

So I just wonder how the tip thickness is affected.

I held a Busker in my local knife store once and thought it was a little too small for my hand. Today I went back and compared the Semper to the Largo. I must’ve tried the Semper before. The position in which my thumb rests on the Largo allows the knife to feel much better in hand than with the Semper blade. With the Largo, the Busker seemed just to fit. Now I’m seriously considering buying one.
