olamic First look at the "Busker" prototype! It's a small folder (2.25" blade, 6" overall, 3.2oz) that can be deployed seven different ways. Come see it first at Table 16E. #BladeShow #OlamicBusker

I am excited.

Very cool, thanks for the heads-up! I am curious to see the opener in action. I loved my Techno, but always wished it had a forward finger choil. This looks like it could be an ideal replacement.

They had a video showing all the ways it could be opened, I wonder what happened to it...

Agreed, but it's gonna cost us.
I dont think it will be over priced like a medford where you pay a fortune for d2 steel and a g10 non reinforced presentation side. A knife that doesnt cut and a maker who will void your warranty if you sneeze on the knife.

Olamic gives you a lot for your money. Full ti, smooth action, perfect flipper, m390 etc....for less than 400$.
Of coarse its more if you want all the bells and whistles. So i dont think Eugene is going to poach us with this little blade. Its not his style to squeeze his fans out of every cent he can.
We get to enjoy all of his creations at great pricing, this will be no different.

We don't know the price yet, but I think this little guy will come in north of $400. The Plain-Jane 247 was $375 and these Buskers appear to have more going on. I'm sure they'll be reasonable for what they are though, because you're right about Eugene and Olamic. Looking forward.

Just picked up the plain jane busker with the Largo blade. Some initial thoughts which I will follow up on when I have a little more time with the knife.

- Fit and finish is excellent, as good as any knife I have.
- Thumb flipper works very well.
- One handed opening via the oval is beyond me as the hole is positioned too far to the rear of knife when closed. Would have preferred they moved it closer to the pivot.
- Forward Choil is great and my initial concerns that I might choke up to far is not an issue.
- Disengaging the lock to close is smooth, much easier than on my Techno.

I also have a CRKT Pilar and the Busker is so similar it is hard to believe they are not from the same maker.
- Both have outstanding fit and finish and could pass for the same model with a quick glance.
- The Pilar is much heavier and is also thicker. The blade lengths are about the same, but Busker has about a third of an inch more cutting edge.
- They tie on opening because while the oval on the Pilar works better than the oval on the Busker, the front flipper on the Busker works very well.
- Edge retention with the Pilar is poor, but it is easy to put a keen edge with a few minutes work. Expect the edge retention on the Busker should be superior.
- Overall, the Busker wins with lighter weight and much better blade steel, but the Pilar is a very good knife and costs 1/14th the amount of the Busker.
- If you have basic knife sharpening ability, the the Pilar is a “buy it now”.
- The Busker is a great mid-tech that I have been waiting for since it was announced, and I am happy I have one. However, the Pilar is competitive and much, much cheaper.
- If price is not an issue, go with the Busker. If price matters, then go with the Pilar and you also won’t be disappointed.
