Trying to decide between the two. Always open to other suggestions.

I haven't handled the Typhoon, but I own a Nadeau custom (Arch Nemesis) and I've met one of the folks at Olamic and got to play with a Wayfarer. The Wayfarer was very well made and was much more ergonomic than I had expected based on online pictures. Like Spyderco-level ergonomic. Based on the Arch Nemesis, I can say that that Sharp By Design knives have a feel of quality that's hard to find elsewhere in my experience. Of the two, the aesthetics of the Typhoon along with the quality of Sharp By Design knives would make me lean toward the Typhoon. That's not to say anything bad at all about the quality of the Wayfarer. The problem of the Wayfarer for me is that I just don't like the aesthetics very much at all. But the ergonomics were so good that I'm now considering getting one when I wasn't considering one at all before. In sum, for me it's probably down to aesthetics vs ergonomics that would sway my decision.

IMO...when I weigh ergonomics vs. aesthetics in an EDC, I give a 90% weight to ergos and a 10% weight to aesthetics. What feels right and works well in the hand with an EDC means close to everything to me. My Wayfarer is one of the most ergonomic folders I own. It fits into my hand as if it was individually designed for me.

If I were considering those qualities in a vacuum, I'd agree. But it's not like the Typhoon will feel bad, so that would be a part of the consideration for me.

To each his own, but I’ll go for one of the best-feeling ergonomic designs I’ve ever experienced over “not bad” every time.

Sure, but the framing is what I'm pushing back against here. It's not any of these in isolation, but the whole package. And that could still mean that the Wayfarer could win out because all of these qualities fall on a spectrum rather than having some binary value.

My point is that the way my Wayfarer feels in my hand and works for me is “the whole package” to me--abstract, theoretical &/or philosophical considerations of spectrums and binary values notwithstanding. I consider the functionality of hand tools the most important criteria by which I judge them.

I’d take the Evo Typhoon over the 247 any day. With that said, I’d take a Full size Wayfarer over the Mini Typhoon.

Which of each are you looking at?

My vote is 100% for the Wayfarer. I have two full Customs, and they're some of my absolute favorite knives.

Go for the full-size Wayfarer. I've had a couple of the customs (still have my first one) and I think the revolver style grip profile is very comfortable, especially for larger hands. I've never handled a Typhoon, but the Hurricane I own has a fairly boxy handle that I sometimes struggle to find a comfortable grip with.

I had the Olamic and wouldn't ever want that pocket clip again. Useless! Seems like a silly thing to completely reject a knife over but I hated it that much. When you get to that price point it seemed all that more significant.

So Jcsixx01 Jcsixx01 , which did you decide on? I have both and you can't go wrong with either. Both are backed by incredible customer service also.

I will admit the Olamic gets used more, but I would say the Typhoon is a bit more solid. I did "tip" the Typhoon, and rolled the edge of the 247, both blades were brought back without too much work, so you don't have to pamper either. They will both serve you well for years.

I caught a good deal on a the Wayfarer. So far it is as good as advertised. I still want to try out a Typhoon at some point though.

How does the Typhoon compare to ZT’s 0620 in size, weight, ruggedness/toughness, etc?

I am trying to limit my collection to fit in my 30 pouch spydiepack. I’m thinking about getting a tanto typhoon to replace my ZT 0620.

I picked up the Typhoon as well and I agree with your assessment. I like the typhoon better than the wayfarer.

It is bigger than I prefer so I may look at the mini or preferably the micro. Is there a reason that you don’t like the mini or is it a size preference?

Really like the Mini...just a bit small in the handle.

I picked up the micro Typhoon. I’ve come to the conclusion that I like the Typhoon better than the Wayfarer and I also like the micro better than my Busker. So Nadeau’s have made my Olamic’s expendable.
