This is my first post and am a long time looker here. I frequently refurbish axes and sometimes pick up other sharp things that catch my eye.

I picked up an Olcut Union Cutlery CO knife today at a garage sale for a buck. It had been painted silver and was in rough shape and missing a pommel. I would like to replace the stacked leather handle but have been unable to find a replacement pommel. It's threaded and I have not yet measured the thread size. If any one could point me in the right direction to a replacement pommel it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

texas knifemaker, usa knifemakers, jantz. I think it used a pommel cut for a spanner type nut.

Knifekits.com also sells pommels, although I don't know if any would be an exact fit.

I can't tell from the pic, but it might be necessary to use a dye to re-cut the threads.

If you're open to other options besides an actual pommel, another option that I have used to lighten a knife with a threaded tang is to use a washer and an acorn nut of appropriate thread pitch.

The threaded portion of the tang has been broken off.
You can grind the tang down and re thread it, or you can hard solder or weld a bolt (with the head cut off) to the tang.

Thanks for the replies. I found some that may work. Does anyone know how long the threads should be. I'm probably going to grind and rethread. I may just wait till I get a pommel and measure.
