112, maybe 1970-72?...no nail nick and came in a 110 sheath I believe.

ak, Your knife is a 1978, 112. It looks to have 2 dots, one on each side of the 112. (*112*). The 2 dots came out in 1974 with a beefy square frame. All rocked along fine. Then in 1978 Buck looked at some different handle pin options. Trying 2 small pins, 3 & 4. Then arrived upon 3 larger headed handle pins in mid to late 1978. Which is the pins yours has. It's blade is of 440C and handles of solid macassar ebony. A fine model in good shape. DM
 
Thanks for the info DM, good eye on those dots. I didn't even notice them until I looked more closely.

Any thoughts about if I should send it in to Buck to be resharpened? I have read on here that the 440C they used was heat treated for hardness and is difficult to do without the more abrasive media. This has the original factory edge and it barely slices paper. I am learning to freehand on whetstones with good results, but I think I should send it out to be done right.
