I know there are a lot of you that resurrect the old goodies from the second hand market. I found an old Schrade Walden NY Peanut (that I don't know how to date yet) on the secondary market and decided to revamp an carry it. I will post pictures after I clean it up but figured I would start the thread for reconstitution ideas and chat on this topic. If you have before and after pics or just stories on this please feel free to chime in thanks for the info in advance.

Nice find, I have a bunch of before and after pics on my thread, Flea Market Finds, I generally start with dish soap and water, then go with rubbing alcohol, helps displace the water and helps to breakdown any sticky crud in the joints, repeat if necessary, the inside of the handles usually have a lot of crud I spend a good amount of time cleaning the inside out. Your blade looks good I don't see any rust, after a good cleaning lots of mineral oil, joints, handle, springs, I let mine sit with a lot of mineral oil on a paper towel and you will see lots of crud come out of the pivots and spring. Hope this helps looks like a gem.

Wow thanks for the fast reply cleaning it after dinner. I will try that I will post on your thread sorry they are similar.

Please don't mess with that beautiful patina, brother. That's a genuine earned patina and I would hate to see it gone.
Other than that, Stich has you covered.

I agree., I don't do anything other then clean the blades, unless there is red rust. Those blades look like they are in great shape.

That knife is beautiful just like it is. If it needs anything, maybe a little oil on the joints and touch up the edge. Other than that, you don't need to do anything to it.
