So some of you may remember this threas:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/929135-Bush-Cleaver-!-!-!?highlight=cleaver
About an old cleaver I found at an antique store. I bought it and dropped it off with Knifemaker Lamont Coombs who I am lucky enough to live like 5 miles from. We discussed some ideas for it and then he went to town on it. Well I just picked it up and it is AMAZING everything and more that we talked about. Pics or worth 1000 words but what he did:
Reground the blade
There was a lot of hammer marks on the spine which he took care of also
Made the two deep blood grooves (by hand with a grinder which I find amazing)
Bead blasted and Cold blued it
Rehandled it in green micarta with SS pins
sharp as a razor which I can attest to since I cut myself the first time I touched it
AND he made a kick ass heavy duty sheath for it with an altoids tin pocket.
First pics of the cleaver as I found it:
