We've touched on these subjects before, but I thought I'd bring them up again because of a knife I just bought. Here you will see a nice 10 dot Case 6235 1/2 Jack in mint condition, and a 6245P W.R.Case&SONS Harness Jack in much less than mint condition. In fact most would not even consider looking at it!
The "pretty red bone" on the Jack, and the condition make it a very desirable knife, in fact I keep it in a wall display so I can enjoy looking at it. But that ratty old HJ, hmmmmmmm.
Most of you have guessed what's coming
!
Condition is NOT everything in this case (pun intended!)!
Where have you seen one of these? I've had Tony Foster and Jim Sargent look at it, and they agree it is authentic. They also said they've never seen one before!!!!! It has red winterbottom scales, fairly rare, but used on some older Case knives. You can see them in illustrations in Sargent's book.
You veterans out there know that HJs are rare; this may be one of the rarest. So which one is worth more?? Well that always depends on who is buying!! Enjoy!!
