Hey Folks,
I was looking around a thrift shop in New Orleans today. Came across a Blador motor. It's probably a little bit older, but its a little big. Maybe 18-20 long and maybe 10-12 inches across the end. The shaft sticking out the end is 4 or so inches long, no idea what size it is. The mount can be bolted down and then the motor can be slid back and forth. The wiring was sticking out of an electrical box, 2nd pic. No idea if it works or not. I just thought that someone here would get a kick out of seeing this thing. It is sitting on a set of wooden rollers. It's pretty heavy, but easy to roll around on the rollers. Some of the info on the plate isn't visible in the photo, rpm and hp and I don't remember what they are.

Edit:I didn't mean for this to looked at as a "for sale"Item. I didn't even think that it might since I added the asking price. Sorry about that.
It's a 3 HP and 1725 RPM

That is an old 4HP baldor set up to run a flat belt drive...probably ran a line shaft.

Stacy beat me too it. Looking at the shaft I would have said it probably drove a belt driven hook up!

It is a hoss. If I would have had to guess I would have said more the 4HP but that just goes to show how todays technology has progressed. A 4HP today is not near as big or probably near as heavy as that ole gal is!!!! And knowing technology back then I would not be surprised at all, to see she still ran! ;)

It certainly is a beast. Those type motors are well built and if the oiling is done regularly, the bearings will last a long time. They can be re-built fairly easily, too. The negative thing is that it is not a sealed motor. Everything from mud after the last flood, to spiders, to grain dust is probably inside. The motor should be completely stripped, cleaned, and re-built if you plan on using it for the shop.

If you can get it with a warranty that it isn't DOA, then $50 would be a good price. ( Price was removed, so I don't know what it was)
It will take a 220VAC 30 a dedicated circuit to run it.
It could run a hydraulic pump for a small press.

I really like this old motor. I think it's cool as heck. I would like to have it, even if it didn't work, but working would be
much better. I doubt that they would give a warranty on it one way or the other. They are asking something like $130
To 150 for it I think. They are probably looking at it like it is an antique. Sure it is, but it's a motor, not an old buffet or
something. Nice to know that it might be able to be rebuilt. I took out the price because I didn't want it to look like I
was trying to sell it for them. I put down 3hp because that is what was on the tag. I don't remember how to figure that out.

I did find a new 5 or 6 hp motor at an old hardware store for about $70. I am probably going to try to get that one.
