I was so tickled to have ended up with this old classic Colonial Barlow recently. I got it so dag-um inexpensively that I actually found myself feeling bad for the poor feller who sold it to me..... Well, I recon for a minute or so anyway :p :D.

And now I cannot figure out which I like better,, the old Barlow knife or the vintage 1972 blister package she came in. This knife brings back a whole helluva lot of memeries flooding on back to me..:cool:

I really like the packaging too, makes you think of simpler times. I may have to hunt down an old barlow now :D

Thanks all. And thats what struck me about the package too.. Simpler times!.

I saw these and other patterns at our local "Buckland's Hardware" store in my town. He had these and Imperials on a pegboard type display and next to it was the hardwood and glass Case XX display for the more well to-do folks. As kids my pals and I would go inside and hang around to listen to the old fellas BS about everything with eachother and tell there war stories(jackknife calls them the liars circle, boy aint that the truth:D) and sharpen our folding knives on this huge thick mounted Washita bench stone that sat near an old style pop machine and a rickety old freezer that Bucky would store the latest harvest of hog meat and venicin from he and his kinfolk in on one side, and home made Ice Cream sandwiches and frozen Moon Pies that were for sale on the other side.

Man this brings back some memories..:)

A gunstore I know of still has brand new in the package Colonial scout pattern knives hanging from a pegboard. They are still out there waiting to be found, except for the one I brought home with me.

what a neat find! When I first read the post I was wondering if you were going to leave it in the blister package! I came back to ask and had my question answered.

I personally am glad that your going to leave it in. Having that knife in blister package is like walking back in time:thumbup:

congrats!

Thanks Ken.. Great minds think alike I recon. I am now actually looking for additinal vintage Colonal and Imperial slippy's in the old card blister packs like this. I think it would be cool to fill a portion of my office wall with them. Perhaps even some kind of frame to display them in. Stuff like this really does take me back a piece. I find it soothing somehow and good for my soul.:)

That's an amazing find. It's too cool to take out of the blister pack. I'm just got by that and it couldn't have gone to a better home for sure. CONGRATS!:cool:

Like a time-capsule in fact!

Dig that skinny old buffer in the picture panning for gold.....
