wall hanger,

I have had this knife for a while, When I was at a flea market it was like a shinny bar of gold from 40 yards away, I had to have it. under good light it looks to be black and pitted like a knife that was forgot outside after butchering. I think its a great old knife just to hang on the wall but its a good knife with good steel and could be used again with many years of life remaining.

You should not do either of these two.
What you should do is take some steel wool and some wd40 and remove all the rust then put a razor edge on it and use it in your kitchen.
Chances are with some care you can get the Cutler's rivets apart so you can clean and oil the wood , remove the rust from the tang, and put it right back together.

I have too much cutlery as it is no need to add another

I have 3 basic knifes I use for everyday cutlery needs

So far according to the survey it looks like I have a wall hanger

These three knifes get it all done, If I need to slice I can dig out a slicer but
I reserve that set for the holidays. If I do any butchering I use a
fillet knife made from a old file.

It deserves to cut meat, if you're not going to use it seems it to someone who will.

I agree with Hickory n Steel. Clean it up, put a fresh edge on it and get a few more decades of use out of it.
