Is it feasible to remove the bone scales from an old knife and reuse them on new construction? What would be a realistic expectation as to the outcome?

I have several old Remington fixed blade knives with handles that have 3+/- inches of killer bone, between the pins, I would like to use on a couple of slipjoint projects.

Please feel free to shoot all the holes in this idea you can come up with.

Thanks in advance for any and all input.

Just don't break it when removing or installing it. Other than that, there should be no problem at all.

Well, for one, you would have to precisely match the holes in the new knife to the ones in the scales. It would be far easier to fit new scales on a new knife. Jigged bone is readily available from the suppliers....and cheap, too.
