Hey all I have been makin for some time now, but along the way I found ALOT of older, not in porduction tool/helpers from many different Comps. What I have is a "Buck honemaster NO#.136 pat. no. 3924360. What it is (sorry I can't post a pic just yet) Is a clamp on tool to thumbscrew down on the spine of your blade, (rubber insert helps scratches) and when you draw it down a stone it puts a 20 Deg. angle on your blade. Well I found it actually worked!! I don't use it myself, but when I am *trying* to show newbies how to put a 20 Deg. angle on the blade it works wonders for them. They are not in production anymore, but I thought it was a good idea that Buck had. Anyone else here try one, have one, or what did you think of them? Thanks ahead for any reply. Enjoy all. Edgy.

I have one, it works well on knives similar in size to a buck 110, but if you get much bigger or smaller then it doesn't work very well in my experience. it was a great idea as long as it fits your blade. a company called Razor's Edge still makes a similar angle guide clamp, but these designs are somewhat outdated and you get better performance from offerings like the Lansky, spyderco's sharpmaker, and the DMT aligner systems.

Hey thanks for the reply. I was just wondering if *anyone* else have ever used one. (I have a ton of old odd stuff from the past 30+ years of making and collecting.) As far as any hold the edge better gaget.. I accutaly trust putin the edge on myself, my own angle so to speak. But for some peeps who just can't see stright, the old buck gaget just gave them the idea. That way the blades wern't held at a 10 deg. angle and there goes your finish, if ya know what I mean. Thanks again. Enjoy. edgy.

I probably still have one stashed away somewhere. For me, it was about a quarter inch from totally worthless. I think I had one knife that it was marginally useful for, but even that one I could get a better edge freehand.
