I got an email from this gentleman, who is interested in selling this knife set. If you are interested please call him directly. I don't know him but he writes a decent email. He says:
I have a set of buck knives consisting of a carving knife and four steak knives. As I live in El Cajon, Ca., I took them to the Buck Knife Factory to find out what I could about them. I was informed that they were a very early (circa 1945 - 1953) custom set.
The carving knife is 14 1/16" overall with a 8 7/8" blade. The steak knives are 7 9/16" overall with 3 7/8" blades. The handles appear to be plastic or Plexiglas laminates of a turquoise/blue color. The Butt caps are of aluminum. I'm not sure what the blade guard is made of but it is silver in color.
The carving knife is in excellent condition. The steak knives show lots of wear and use. Two of the steak knives show pitting from past rusting.
The blade markings are one dot followed by the letters BUCK and then another dot.
I was told at the factory that I shouldn't take any less then $250 for the carving knife and $125 each for the steak knives.
As I am hurting for Christmas money, I'm looking for a buyer.
If you are interested, please E-mail me and we'll see what we can work out. If not, if you know anybody that might be interested, please forward this E-mail to them.
